  • Are you guys in college? Why can't he look for a more full time/adult job? I know people who have made careers from Kroger. It can be a great job. If he isn't getting the hours he needs, then have him look other places. Does he have any skills? Can you swap jobs or get a second job?

I'm not trying to be snarky, just trying to give you other options.

  • And please do not take this as a slam against either job. Everyone has different career choices. If it works for you and you're happy KOKO.

  • I mean can you find a different job. I hate saying this, but it's time for bootstraps. How old are you guys?

  • If he just needs a job that will pay the bills and get him through college, why doesn't he work as a server/waiter? I do it and it's easy and I make good money. If I only want to work 2 days a week, I will still walk away with what I need. Every restaurant is different, and some states don't offer the standard minimum wage, but mine does (WA).

  • Can you put him on your insurance?

I'm not trying to say anything other than what I posted. I was picking your brain to help you look for other ideas. I was curious of there were other options out there for him.

I'm not knocking working food service or Kroger. Until last week I had an entry level job. I have an associates degree that gets me no where.

  • My husband works at Costco and the people with open availability do get the most hours.  My advice is for him ( or you) to put the word out that your husband has open availability and can work any hours and is willing to be trained in any department ( if possible I don't know how your store works).  I have a feeling that once the managers realize they can depend on him and that he is willing to be trained wherever, his stock will go up and hopefully the 90 days will pass without incident.

  • I would still let his manager know he has open availability.  My husband is a manager and an employee that has open availability is a great asset.  Especially because things happen like people get sick or have last minute obligations.
