Cold feet over names- the twin naming saga continues. (Updated to include clicky poll link)

I know, I know, I should take this to the BNB, but you all are my people.  Naming twins is hard!  I am used to being totally 100% sold on baby names by the mid point, and now I am still not super in love with either name.  DH and I decided to try square one again and see what else we could come up with.

Original twin-set:
Audrey Marie and Margot Elise
(We always had Audrey on the table.  Margot was suggested to us on the BNB and grew on me; I still like that it is funky and different.  DH does not LOVE Margot, but he likes it and thinks it goes well).

New set:
Anneliese Joy and Marie Grace
(We have always loved Anneliese, but I originally nixed it because I thought it would be cumbersome in a twin set.  DH prefers Marie as a FN.  I thought maybe Marie was too short compared to Anneliese, but they both seemed equally pretty, and I also considered actually calling her Marie Grace often instead of just Marie.)

Anyone want to weigh in on which set you prefer, or if you think Anneliese and Marie would even fit together?  DH and I like BOTH sets right now.  I think at this point if any new names get introduced my head may explode.

DD is Lorelei Rose and DS is Asher Allen.

  • I like all the names so I'm no help. I have to say that I find Marie as a FN instead of a MN refreshing. Just FYI there is an American Girl doll named Marie Grace. Not sure if that would bother you.

Thanks!  I looked it up actually and it would not bother me.  I am sure I would have loved to share a name with my Kirsten doll when I was a little girl ;-).

  • Why not Audrey Elise and Marie Grace?

    Love this combo!!!!!

  • I am not sure why we took Audrey and Marie off the table as a set.  Maybe it was because I thought Margot was a cuter and spunkier fit and had a hard time picturing Marie as a FN.  Maybe it was because the endings of the two names were so similar.  Maybe I just irrationally did not care for them together (because pregnant women are totally rational).  I am sure that is a combo that DH would like.

I will say that as a standalone name, I do think I like Anneliese better than Audrey.  Audrey is just feeling "safe" and a bit overdone to me.  But I still love it, and have loved it since I was a little girl.

  • What about Anneliese Joy and Audrey Marie? I think Audrey and Anneliese sounds great as a twin set!
We thought about that, too…and haven't ruled it out.  But if we go this way, we have the whole "twin with matching letters" going on, and then three of our 4 kids have A names, with Lorelei being the oddball out.  Not saying it would be the end of the world, but those were the flags that came up.

  • I LOVE the name Anneliese and if I didn't have a friend who has a daughter with that name I would be using it. she shortens it to Anna sometimes. I love Anneliese and Audrey together personally :)
  • I like Audrey and Anneliese a lot. I think its cute to have the same first letter for twins. :)
  • What about Margot and Marie? I like twin sets that are similar... I love the name Margot!!! Audrey is super popular here so I would nix that if it were me... But all your choices are nice!!!

I love Audrey.  That's what we're naming our little girl (Audrey Jane to be exact).  I'm not a big fan of Anneliese.

I'm going to have to agree with Audrey Elise and Marie Grace.

  • I would've loved to name a set of twins Audrey and Aubrey. However I do like the Marie and Margot suggestion. I too am a fan of matchy names for twins.
  • I feel like all your names are so unique and then you have Marie, which is fairly common (at least where I'm from). I love the Anneleise and Audrey
Combo or the Audrey/Margot combo? These are my favorites, but honestly all of your names are beautiful and will work. Good luck!

  • Why not Audrey Elise and Marie Grace?
This!  I think that's the best combo!!  And I agree with your DH that Marie is way better than Margot.  I could deal with Annelies, but not Margot.  I know it's different but I can't help but thinking "maggot" when I see that name written out...sorry :-/

  • I'm a big fan of Audrey and Margot. I also like your second twin set names. I personally wouldn't do matching letters for twins so I like your combos the way you have them. Names are so hard! I can't imagine coming up with two right now. Good luck!
  • Why not Audrey Elise and Marie Grace?
I like this combo as well.
  • Personally I prefer the first set. I think Audrey and Margot together is adorable!

    I like all the names.

I actually think it is sweet when the initials match, but I get not everyone is into it. I just love the way it rolls off the tongue, and they still get completely different names and middle names.

    I love saying this already!

    "Anneliese and Audrey...
    Margot and Marie"

Dunno why, just lovin' the the alliteration. It's OK if its not your thang though.

    *edit, words.

Why not Audrey Elise and Marie Grace?

This is my favorite combination, too, but I think I'm a little biased since my LO will be Audrey Grace.

As half of a set of twins who have rhyming names (both end in 'Anna'), I wouldn't do anything too matchy-matchy like names that start with the same letter. My twin and I were always together which meant we were often compared. It would have been nice to have names that didn't match. I think it would have given each of us more independence in our identities if that makes sense.
  • Of the 8 names, I like Anneliese Marie and Margot Grace.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • I like the first set best -I just prefer the names.

  • My baby girl is Annaliese Grace! So clearly, I love this name :) Annaliese Joy is lovely too. I actually really like Margot Elise with Annaliese Joy.
  • You guys were so helpful that I made a nice little clicky poll in the BNB, if you want to visit.  Thanks for putting up with my indecisiveness.
