I'm currently 6 weeks 3 days pregnant and going to ART clinic. On the 24th i have an appt with my RE Dr. Honea and we will talk about obgyns. I would like to stay at Brookwood and would like a female dr. just because ive always used a female.
Two of my friends recommended Dr. Ashley Tamucci with Alabama Womens Specialits at Brookwood. I had a miscarrage in October and she was great. I am 7 wks now and have my first appt. today. I am a little nervous, but then again I usually am when I go to the Dr. Good luck!!!
I was also a patient at ART! I am now 39 weeks pregnant today! I have been using Dr. Heidi Straughn at Brookwood. I LOVE her! I read up on her via the internet before selecting her. Both mothers AND nurses that work with her raved about how good she is throughout the whole pregnancy and delivery. She's on the 2nd floor of Brookwood Hospital Women's Medical Center.
I am just writing to chime in for the doctors at Favor and Sparks! I am currently in week 10 of my first pregnancy and they have been beyond wonderful. I'm actually seeing Dr. Sparks, who is male, but I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Gregory and Dr. Favor as well. Each doctor has their main nurse who you will get to know well. I have also found they are very easy to get on the phone which is so nice.
Dr. Ashley Tamucci @ Alabama Women's. She's the best and very supportive. Takes time with patients and returns calls quickly if you call worried about symptoms.
Wow - check this out re:Brookwood https://www.yahoo.com/parenting/woman-sues-hospital-for-traumatic-birth-that-201605478.html FYI, Brookwood is not a part of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. RMC in Anniston is, and has lots of mothers from Birmingham, Huntsville, enterprise, and even GA & TN driving to deliver with Dr Johannson, who is super duper birth-plan and unmedicated-birth friendly (if that's what mama wants) and also performs Gentle c/sections (clear drape, immediate skin-to-skin with mama, etc) Also, I neither work for Dr Johannson, nor the hospital. Just had such an amazing birth with them last time, vastly different than my first traumatic birth and my second (induction) birth. Looking forward to this next birth.
