Possible Acid Reflux?

Hello Beuties!

I have never really had an issue with heartburn or acid reflux before so I really have no idea what it should feel like or what to expect but I have had almost a burning sensation in my lower chest/upper abdomen for the past two days. It's normally accompanied with a "wet" burp (sorry for the grotesque description) but I'll even get boughts of puke in them. It's absolutely miserable. It's usually worse for the first couple of hours after I eat but doesn't seem to ever really go away. Tums has not helped and I see some reccommend Zantac.

However, before I look into other remedies I wanted to see if you guys thought it was either heartburn or acid reflux as well. I wrote an email to my doctors office and I'm sure I'll get a response tomorrow sometime but it's always nice to hear from you ladies as well.

It could be heartburn. I never had it except for pregnancy. Milk based products can help (yogurt especially) and sleeping on an incline or in a recliner if it hits at night. Water sometimes makes it worse, so you might have to find an alternative.

  • With reflux the only relief sometimes is the burp. Could also definitely be heartburn. It sucks and seemed to get worse as the belly got bigger. I agree with Tums. I kept it at my bedside.

  • I had awful heartburn last pregnancy and took Zantac every day because that's what my OB said was safe! I also ate Tums like it was my job. Sorry, heartburn is no fun!

  • Agree above and I never knew before I as pregnant that water made it worse but that seems true for me. 7Up crackers and tums help me.

  • I had Acid Reflux prior to pregnancy and it makes me feel like I can't breathe. I can't lay down, have to stand and walk around. When I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux, the doctors pre-scribed me high dosage Zantac. So if you're feeling heartburn and your doctor OKs Zantac, I would say it's your best remedy. If the burn isn't that strong, and Tums takes care of it, then I would say go with that!

  • Thank you so much guys!! It's awful and just as bad as the nausea sometimes. I will keep all of you considerations in mind and I'm do glad you mentioned water made it worse. I did not know that.
