Baby name dilemma

My husband and I cannot seem to completely agree on a name for our baby. Most of my pregnancy we agreed to name him one name that I chose and DH chose his middle name. I even had dreams about our son being called by this name and every time I think of this baby, I call him by this name in my mind. Our daughter is only 4 but she also loves this name and whenever we ask her what names she likes she says this name too and no to all other name choices.

At about 7 months pregnant I began thinking of other names cause DH never seemed too happy with our first choice so I thought we could possibly find another name we both would love. Well...he loves the second name I chose but now, I do not. I like the name but as a middle name instead of a first name. I was thinking of naming the baby my favorite name choice as his first name and DH's favorite name choice as a middle name. I hate being so wishy washy and picky but I want to be completely happy with our name choice. 

DH was never this opinionated with our DD.. he never even gave me many opinions on her first or middle names. So it's surprising to me that he's so opinionated now and almost obsessed. 

My question is..what do you do when your baby is born and you and DH still can't agree on a name? Help please! TIA

I had a similar situation with my H. I have a name that I LOVE and he only "liked" it. He kept trying to think of other names, as did I. We finally found one that we both liked, but a few days later I began to dislike it. Now we have our LO's name picked out, which turned out to be my original name that I picked out. I didn't really do anything to persuade H to agree to it, but I think he saw how much I liked it, then it grew on him. To be fair though, I let him pick out the mn which is also his mn.

It's fine to "try on" a name for a while and see how you all feel about it, and then change your mind to something else.  I think it's important to have some kind of agreement about the name, but to do this you have to talk to each other about where you both stand on names, what you're thinking, and if  you're ready to make a decision yet or want to table it for a while.

As for your DD, I would probably not talk about names anymore with her until you're 100% set on one, unless you want her to be part of the decision-making process.  I'm sure she'll adapt to whatever name you ultimately settle on, but it could be weird at first to tell her, "No, we're not using that name anymore, we're going to call baby XXX."   Kind of confusing to a 4-year old, I'm thinking.
