C-sections

Can you tell if you'll need a c-section?

Is there any way or sign or symptom or anything that can indicate you'll need a c-section to deliver? My mom had two with my brother and I. Is it hereditary? Or will I find out when I'm in labor?

  • She spent 70+ hours in labor with me and developed an infection while in the german hospital, so they did one to get me out. My brother, I'm not sure why she needed one. But that's good to know!

  • Nope. I had an emergency c-section. There's no way to plan for it unless you request to have one.

It used to be that if you had a Caesarian, all future births would have to be one as well, that's probably why your brother was. My mom had one with me because I was HUGE and her labor with my equally HUGE older sister was so dangerous. I had one with my son because he was transverse (sideways) in my belly!!

  • I knew bc my blood pressure was dangerously high so labor was too risky. Of course if I really wanted to try natural I probably could have but my main concern was getting the baby out and keeping her healthy. On top of that she was breech so it would have been even more complicated. There are various reasons for c-sections

This. I had a c section due to a breech baby. My sister had a c section because she would not progress at all and never went into active labor. My mom delivered 2 babies vaginally and twins via c section.
