I'm sad. Sad it's over and kinda sad at the ending. I feel like they covered too much space in a short time and it just didn't 'mesh'. And even though I kinda liked the Ted & Robin thing it didn't have an exciting feel to it.
Like when Friends ended you KNEW Ross and Rachel were going to end up together no surprise there at all but at least you were happy for them. The Ted and Robin thing was ... meh.
My favourite part of that next show was her pumping as they were hanging out on the couch. THAT is real life. Ha ha!
I'm with @majwv8, I liked the episode. I'm not happy that the mother died but I have been hoping for Ted and Robin to be together from the very beginning. I think it was a great finale.
Is it me or did they make Robin more unlikeable as the show went on. Robin chose Barney and when Ted found happiness, Robin went running. She was too busy having her own pity party that I didn't want Ted to be with her. She doesn't deserve him.
And why can't Ted have his happily ever after? They had to kill off the mom? Actually glad that they limited the moms scenes this season, because if I had gotten to know her any better I would have never been able to watch the show on reruns again.
I was reading a story this morning and they were showing tweets of fans about how pissed they were and I felt this one nailed it. " More like 'How I Settled for Your Mother After I Accidentally Knocked Her Up After Robin Turned Me Down. Repeatedly.' Amirite??? "
@sctiger I totally agree. Robin only wanted Ted because she couldn't have him. She never really loved him the way he did her. And, I was happy for HIM that he finally realized that and moved on. Plus, with how unlikeable they made Robin, it didn't make me happy they ended up together. It made me feel like Ted was sort of a schmuk for going that route. Again. Of course if he lost his wife young you don't expect him to stay single forever. But, I just feel like putting him back with Robin was him totally selling himself short.
Ok. So, if you spent years telling your kids the story of how you met their mother and they point out that the majority of the story was about "aunt Robin", as the kid, I'd be kind of pissed. So, was mom just a poor mans Robin? I'm sure if most people told their kids a story like that and about how basically all this time he's loved someone else, I don't like they'd be all like, "Hey.. go ask her out!"
I do not think he loves Robin more than the mom. Maybe it's the do you believe that there's only one person out there for you thing? Was he not supposed to try to start another relationship after the mother died? Because many people do after they lose a spouse and it doesn't meant that they didn't love their first one. When Ted met the mother Robin was doing the career thing and they wouldn't have been good together then. They weren't meant to be together till later.
It irked me most that the mom was pretty much there just to produce two kids and then she was out, you know? If this had been a different show, that would be one thing, But it's literally about how he met their mother, not how he loved Aunt Robin. Or that is what it was supposed to be. That's why I was mad. I was waiting for a big thing with the mother, and then... nah.
I'm not as upset that Ted and robin ended up together. I'm most upset that they built up robin and Barney so much, how far they'd come to get where they were to be able to commit, yada yada, and then so unceremoniously broke them up. I mean, the whole last season was their wedding weekend!!! I hate that they then had them get divorced as soon as things got tough just so it would fit their plan of Ted going back to robin. If that's how this was going to end, don't lead up to it like that. And then have robin disappear from the group!
Very casual watcher here, but The Mother dying does seem practical. Think about it, why would the narrator be talking about "How I Met Your Mother" unless something did happen to her. The child is curious, and wants to know what she was like, and how they met. IDK. If you watch any other shows or movies where the mom is gone, Let's take Full House for example, Bob Saget is always bringing up how their mother was like, and how they met, to his daughters. JMO.

Gah. I wanted to throw something at the tv then.
Barney and the baby was cute and all, but like @nolongerthebest said, who is the mother of the baby? Do they stay together? Does the baby change Barney or is he still chasing women for the rest of his life? It just felt out of nowhere and out of place to me.
I have read too many articles today. Some like that one that basically said that they totally screwed themselves. I agree that I loved the chemistry between Barney and Robin way more than I loved Ted and Robin. But, it doesn't matter what any of them say. I will remain bitter and continue to feel cheated every time I'm scrolling through for something to watch and I see an episode is on. Yah I know I'm taking it way too personally, but they spent YEARS getting me emotionally invested. It worked. Jerks.
Oooohhhh I didn't even think about that. Good one!
Edit: I was hoping the mother of Barney's baby was Robin(even though I know they said she couldn't have kids)
You should come play with me; in my head that is exactly what happened. Ask me what happened to Fred Weasley.
@phishgirl29 - didn't you read the books? He and George fought off twenty dementors apiece and then saved several first years from demise at the hands of Death Eaters. He then went on to marry Angelina and they have four kids: Cleo, Maya, Fred Jr, and Bob. He works with George at the joke shop and they make millions every year.
Re: HIMYM theory...
We are watching the Scrubs series finale right now to cleanse the palate. Best finale ever (even tho Gilmore Girls still has my heart)

@phishgirl29 All of your words. Seriously.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
I haven't watched the show since Marshall's dad died, but why, if Robin ends up with Ted, does he refer to her as "Aunt Robin"?
