What made me smile yesterday was finding out about someone losing her job. She's a widow who hasn't had steady work for several years, and really needed the job.
I've vented here before about this person-she was hired to cover my maternity leave and just wasn't teaching. The principal gave her several chances and she didn't make any effort to improve. I'm just glad the kids will get a chance at a good education.

My house is in such a terrible state of disarray that I sent DS to daycare today so I could focus solely on cleaning and prepping food. I have all afternoon and I still don't think it's enough time. That's how much needs to be done. I'm such a terrible housekeeper. Ugh.

M's birthday party is April 19th....I have no idea what to buy or do for it. Family will be coming to our house to have a get together outside and I don't know what how to set things up so it's like a party and not a boring day

Also, I selfishly/narcissistically check my previous comments to check if they were love-penised. I'm sarcastic and (try to be) funny for my own entertainment
I slept horribly last night, I kept having nightmares and waking up terrified. I probably got a total of three hours combined. I am having major trouble staying awake enough to care for two highly energetic and spirited kids, and I'm almost to the point of calling J to come home early.

Yes. First birthday. We should have maybe twenty people?

What is the weather like? Are you having just grown ups or kids too? Twenty is not too many, what is your set up like outside? Do you have a deck, swingset, etc.? I have had all DD's parties outside and they are usually very large, like 50 people so I can probably offer some suggestions.

Umm, we expect the weather to be mid-sixties. Just a few kids, mostly adults. And our outside setup does not include a swing set or anything. We have a fire pit and raised garden beds. Lol

We used to have tons of outdoor parties at our old place. I borrowed tables to set food and drinks on and then got together as many chairs as I could. On the invites, I would always write that we would have limited seating, so they were welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. That worked out well. You could also look into renting tables and chairs. It's not that expensive.
You could always have a BBQ type thing and add board games. We had friends that would do that. It was fun. You'd sit around and play silly board games.

Mid sixties is good for a BBQ. Usually we would set up food in the house and then drinks outside with coolers marked with what's inside. A fire pit is also good if the party goes into the evening at that temperature. If it's only a few kids I'm sure they will be able to entertain themselves by running around. Do you have enough tables and chairs? As stoney said, you can rent them. Or ask family members if they have any to borrow. We would normally set up tents, but since it's not that hot, that's probably not necessary. Pinatas are always fun to do outside. String it up on the tree and let the kids bust it open.

I squirted DH in the face last night mid-session. I knew I was really full because DS went to sleep after only eating from one side but I didn't warn him so it was hilarious.
Oh my gosh, I thought you were talking about something else until the end, then I realized it was breast milk.
I forget to change Hunter's diaper sometimes. He isn't big enough to leak out of the bamboo insert in a short time and the pocket liners keep him dry and he doesn't complain if he poops. Luckily his bum is resilient and I only forget for a couple hours so maybe 4-5 hours max in a diaper. We have yet to have a rash. Any redness is cleared up overnight by Grrandma El's.
I am sitting here bumping instead of finishing the cleaning that was supposed to be done Monday. Oh and yesterday was a rough teething clingy hitting momma type of day for little man so I handed him to hubby at the bowling alley and said. "He's been a dick all day here" and went and got a beer. I hate how I open my mouth without thinking this crap has to stop now before he understands what I am saying.
M's baptism is next month and we are having people over to celebrate after. Since Chicago weather is completely unpredictable, I'm purchasing Italian sausage and pasta now when it's on sale. Good weather= grilled sausage and pasta salad. Crappy weather=pasta bar with multiple options for toppings included sliced Italian sausage. (Please be good weather-i don't know if my house is big enough for an all indoor party!)
I'm asking a friend's middle schooler to entertain the 4-8 year olds and will offer some sort of compensation (she's the only person near her age).

@mandmeesh Bubbles are a great thing to have on hand to entertain a group of kids You could also ask your friends with kids to bring a couple balls with them, or ask if they have any favorite out-door activities that they could bring?

And Bozo buckets-my mom saved ice cream containers and we played this at every party as a kid. (Is Bozo a Chicago thing, am I showing my age, or does everyone know Bozo?)

Bozo's Circus was a kid's morning TV show on Chicago's WGN station from the 60s until sometime in the 90s. Bozo the Clown was the main character. The highlight of the show (for me) was a game called Bozo Buckets. Each day, a boy and girl were picked at random from the audience. They had to toss a ball into six buckets in sequence. If you missed a bucket, game over.
You earned better prizes for each bucket. Bozo would drop money into the last bucket, and bikes were regularly prizes. The best part was the at home player. The contestants picked a name out of a drum, and some lucky kid one every prize the player did.

...ummm... we had pickle buckets at our house growing up, but we didn't play with them... Now I need to know what Bozo is (except if it involves clowns. Those buggers still freak me out.).
@SecretAgentKate I AM quite a snarky bish. If you had kept reading you would have seen that I explained that I had heard of bozo the clown but not the tv show or the bucket game.

My FFFC is that I finally went with the nuclear option of battling DS's eczema: the bleach bath. I did these a couple of times a week when DS was an infant and they helped, but I always hated the fact that I was using bleach.
Anyhoo, things have been getting steadily worse over the last month, so I decided it was time for the big guns. It's amazing. It's only 12 hours later and his skin looks way better already. I don't know why I waited so long.
My SO seriously hates mayo. Like, to the point he gags if it's in the house. For that reason we don't have any in the house. I don't like sammiches without mayo. I crave mayo far too often.
No, never heard about vinegar for eczema. Wouldn't the acid sting already inflamed skin, though? But, maybe not, I'm guessing we're just talking about a tiny amount, right?

My DH can't live w/o mayo. He puts it on everything. he eats it with his hotdogs-mustard and mayo. He puts it on chicken, fish, even tacos. Pretty much anything that is a meat he will put it on. I think it is a cultural thing. They eat a lot of mayo in Argentina.
