I've been out at restaurants, had two drinks and breastfed LO.  I'm of the safe to drive, safe to breastfeed school of thought (though I totally understand others who abstain).  It's heartbreaking to think this woman got arrested for it.  

Charges were dropped, but just having to go through all that!  Sheesh.

I'm on the same page as you, if I'm safe to drive I'm safe to breast feed.

Yeah I have definitely had a beer or two out and breastfed.

Am I the only one that's wondering how long they kept this mother away from her 6 month old/breastfeeding child?? I mean, better to let the kid starve for a few hours than to "endanger" them with some slightly boozy milk.

+1   AAAAaarrrghh!  (Should I be feeling grateful that the police didn't take my baby away from me last night because I had a margarita at my friend's birthday party?)

That waitress should have gotten the facts first.  It was none of her business, even if she did go and get facts.  She obviously didn't care.  I hope that they let the baby back to mommy quickly.  H would have brought Lily in screaming until they let me feed her.

On the other hand, the woman sounds like a real peach with her  "I care about my kid because I don't give less healthy formula" crap while downing pizza, spinach dip, and booze. You're not exactly presenting yourself as the most health conscious (or intelligent) mom.

Such utter B.S. I have had some sips of Hubs beer and NIP'd before. We were in a brewery (celebrating a rehearsal dinner- very rowdy!) and no one even batted an eye. Just because A. there is alcohol on the table and/or B. a nursing mom has had a small amount, does not make her a danger to her baby. There are studies that show that alcohol doesn't reach BM in high doses from a single drink. 

What about that wild unruly drunk you just sent home to his family? Sheesh.

When I had my breastfeeding class WAY BACK WHEN the one thing the stuck in my brain was if you are going to nurse and drink, the best time to nurse is while you are drinking.
