So so glad he is doing well! He's absolutely adorable BTW! I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear when I zoomed in on his cute little face! Congratulations! Perhaps not the way you planned, but YAY for a healthy little baby nonetheless!
Thanks again for all the support, it is amazing and so very much appreciated!!
I just got discharged and we are headed home for the night. Henry is doing well. His new chest X-rays showed improvement today. They did have to do a blood transfusion to give him more red blood cells to help carry more oxygen and he's currently on a uv light to help prevent jaundice. It sounds like a lot but his dr was very happy with how he's doing and all these things he's having done are fairly common in a premie his age.
The best part of today was they let us give him a kiss before we left!!!!! I have no words to describe how that made me feel, but it made my day!!! :x
He is so beautiful, congratulations! I am so glad to hear he is dong so well. You're doing a great job and I know that kiss will carry you for a long time!

I thought I already posted something but I don't see it (I'm going to blame mobile, so at the risk of being a double poster, I am so glad to hear that both you and baby boy are doing well! Congrats!!
Congrats! I love hearing positive birth stories I'm so glad you're doing well and that Henry is well too! I'll be praying for him and your family for an easy recovery!
We went to see Henry earlier today! He is doing as well as he can be. They started feedings last night through his feeding tube. I guess he did well at first but this morning he looked a little rounder in the belly and when the nurse went to feed him around 8:30 a.m. his 5:30 a.m. feeding was still in his tummy. They took an X-ray but it appeared that his stomach looked good just taking a little bit longer to digest.
Before we got there, they did an echo of his heart and found he has a hole in it. They told us the technical terms but I can't ever remember them, plus they tell us so much sometimes it's hard to remember. Anyways it's very common for premies to have a hole in their heart. They started him on a round of medicine that will close the hole. They said usually one round closes it but occasionally they have to do two and very rarely they have to surgically fix it. His dr was pretty optimistic that one round will take care of it. Until that closes they stopped his tube feeding. The dr also said once the hole closes it will help with his lung function and ability to carry oxygen.
I didn't take any new pics today (sorry!!) cuz he was wearing his eye protection for his uv light therapy to help treat potential jaundice. Plus he was resting so comfortably I didn't want to bother him!! Soon I will take more, I promise. Plus taking pics is kinda hard since we have to put our phones in plastic baggies.
I'll update again tomorrow after we visit!!! Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers!!
@hubbs173, thank you for the update!! Is the hole the PDA? That and one other I can't remember are super common. Out of like 40 kids in our unit with the PDA, only one had to have surgery and the rest were fixed with the meds. It sounds like he is doing really well! How are you doing?

Yeah the PDA sounds right. I'm doing good. Getting home yesterday ended in me having an ugly cry breakdown cuz he's at the hospital and I'm not!! Both DH and I are just focusing on getting rest and visiting him as often as we can! DH has been amazing through everything!!! I don't know what I'd do without him!!! Btw I saw that you PM me but I can't find it on mobile!
This is from Friday, one of his nurses made it for him!!! It's a little blurry cuz it was taken from DH's phone and you have to have them in a plastic baggie.

Going home is the worst but it does get easier! And babies have no concept of time so Henry thinks you're gone for about .2 seconds and then he sees you again! But I know it's rough. Just take it one day at a time and you will do great. The PM is just me telling you that I speak NICU and am always happy to lend an ear when you need one! And to come join us on the Preemie board when you feel up to it! We're wild over there.
Thank you for updating us! So glad to hear Henry is doing well. He sounds like quite the fighter and his doctors sound like they are doing a wonderful job taking care of him! Thinking of you and your H and sweet Henry!
