I've been lurking here for a few days, and thought I'd better introduce myself. My name is Ellie, DW is Helena. I'm 45, DW is 48. I have my gorgeous daughter Tilde, who is 16, by my ex-husband, conceived naturally, but due to severe hemorrhaging I almost died giving birth, and was advised to to give birth again. DW and I also have Nova, who is 7, together, who was conceived through IVF with donor sperm after failed IUI, with DW carrying, though she has since had to get a full hysterectomy. However, I wasn't allowed on Nova's birth certificate, and had to adopt her when LGBT adoption (and marriage) became legal in Norway on January 1st 2009. DW and I finally got married a day later. We are now trying for a third child, and have been since February 2013. First using a surrogate, sperm donation and my eggs, but now with a surrogate and donor embryos. However, we have agreed that if we have not managed to conceive by February 2015, we will stop TTC.

    Wow you have such an interesting story.
    Welcome to our group.
    I hope the surrogate works out for you. Are you using someone local to you that you could be involved in the pregnancy? I'm just curious so you don't have to answer if you don't want.
    I'm glad you were able to be put on Nova's birth cert. my best friends did the same thing. It stinks that you had to adopt your own child but I'm glad you were able to so you have the same parental rights as your wife.

    I wish you luck with your donors and surrogate.

    My Ovulation Chart


    Me: 41 DH: 46. We are TTC our 1st, started July '11,
    3 cycles clomid with Ob,
    1 cycle Tamoxifen with Ob,
    Diagnosed PCOS 11/5/12
    clomid, trigger & timed bd 12/12 BFN
    1st clomid IUI 1/4/13 BFN.
    2nd clomid IUI 2/13 cancelled didn't respond to clomid.
    3/15/13 scheduled laparoscopy & on bcp.

    May 10 IUI from injectibles - BFN 

    May 22 done with interventions it will either happen or it won't. 

    February 2014 No longer actively trying, but not preventing. 

    SURPISE BFP 4/2/2015!!!!!!!!!!

    Miscarriage 4/23/15

    @holligans4 Our first surrogate (from February 2013 to July 2013) lived in Oslo, whilst we live in Bergen (both in Norway) so it wasn't too far. Our current surrogate lives in Stockholm, Sweden, though, so its a little further away, but it's still only 1 hour 20 minutes flight away, so it's not too bad.

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

    December 2014: IVF #1.  Microdose Lupron protocol.  9R, 9M, 9F.  3 5-day blasts transferred 12/15. BFFN.
    April 2015: IVF #2.  Microdose Lupron protocol.  16R, 15M, 12F. Transferred 2 5-day blasts 4/12 and froze 4--BFP!  M/C 5/25/15
    August 2015: IVF #3.  14R, 13M, 11F.  Froze 5 blasts for CCS testing.  3 normals.  FET planned for 10/2015.

    Welcome and good luck! 

    I love your lo's names!!!! Are those popular type names in Norway? I love hearing unique names and the stories behind them.

    I want to give our kids unique names if we have any and my H vetoes them all when i say them! lol They are not even too far out there…just a little…..vintage.  :)

    EDIT TO ADD: My family on my mothers side is of Norwegian. My great grandparents immigrated from there.

    Tilde's full name is actually Mathilda, and up until she met DW's niece, she used to get called Mattie, but Tilde is a common name for young kids in Sweden now (where DW and her family are from) and DW's niece took to calling her Tilde, and now everybody does. It's now pretty common in Norway though too.

    Nova is a really common Swedish name for under 10s, and since DW is Swedish, we went for a Swedish name.
