I think if you raise your children only teaching them skills that go along with their gender role you are doing them a major disservice. Every adult should know how to cook, clean, do laundry, balance their bank account, basic tool skills, and basic car maintenance. Basically they should know in general how to be an adult that can live independently.

I find the term "nursiversary" annoying. As in, "LO is six months old today and we are celebrating our six month nursiversary." This term is big on my local FB page.
If your baby is six months, and you're a breastfeeding mom, you've most likely been nursing for six months. Using a term like this is overkill unless you overcame some serious obstacles to breastfeeding.

I think that if you have a super supportive baby daddy who pays/paid
your bills and goes with to the dr when your LO is sick and will bend over backwards to help you then you don't get to whine about how hard it is to be a single mom. Because you have no idea how hard it really is.

Never heard of this. It sounds strange.
I never heard of it outside of that group. The first time I saw it I thought, "is this really a thing?" Now I see it at least 3-4 times a week.

I never thought I would consider this, but I think I'm going to have to get one of those backpack/harnesses for DS. He has been fighting me a lot these days when I want to put him in the stroller. And, he doesn't always want to hold my hand when we are walking around. We live in a very urban area and I'm not sure what other options I have to keep him safe in some situations.
Thank goodness I had the Ergo with me today or we would never have gotten home.
I'm going to look ridiculous walking around with a kid on one leash and a dog on the other.

I think I am going to have to do the same actually. I'll have to eat my words too because, before #2, I was very judgy about kids on leashes...
Does he like being worn? I prefer dog walking with a baby on me than pushing a stroller. If he tolerates it, that would be a good option over the toddler harness. However, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I haven't really worn my 2 yo. I used to wear him off and on when he was small. I wear my 4 mo a ton. What is the best option for wearing two kids??
I'd have to talk with my twin mom friend, but with her she does either 2 SSCs, wraps them both to her, or wraps one and puts the other in a SSC. There is tons of info out there for tandem wearing.
I think Disney movies (full-length, theater movies) aren't really meant for kids under about 6. I'm not necessarily opposed to younger kids seeing them (especially if they have older siblings who want to watch them), but I think there are way more appropriate things for your 2/3 year old if you want them to watch tv.
Really??
I see not needing them from the car to store / car to home. But what if you're in an urban area walking around??
I lived in the very rainy part of Spain an an umbrella was a part of life!
Eta: I walked everywhere.
I'm more of a rain jacket with a hood kinda girl. I'm constantly trying to juggle 12 things, so an umbrella always ends up being useless because I'm rarely actually able to focus on keeping it over my head.
The exception to this is that it is handy to have a tiny one on hand for unexpected rain.

Personally I have no problem when people use them. And I woul totally use one by myself. Toddlers take off and scoot between people. It's so easy to lose them when you're also trying to care for a second.
The problem with these is most people notice the parents that use them so that they don't need to watch their kid.
I don't like the idea of baby modeling or pageants. Sure, they need kids for Carter's catalogs and things like that, but not every cute baby needs to be a model. And definitely not my baby.

I'm a rain jacket person too. I'm dependent on my rain jacket and will spend hundreds of dollars to make sure I have a good one because I spend a lot of time outside (including hiking, where an umbrella would be impractical). I also am likely to have things in my hands, but more importantly I feel like an umbrella doesn't keep much dry except my face. If there is any kind of wind the rain just whips up and gets everything wet (especially since I'll often spend hours outside at a stretch). It's rains a lot here and I hate the idea of staying inside because of the rain (most of my weight loss was done outside). I'm going to need to buy a new raincoat this summer because I want one that will be able to go around both me and M. DH likes his umbrella though because it gives his work backpack protection.
Rain jackets just make me hot and sweaty. So then I'm wet on the inside. What's the point?
I'd run in the rain/ other outdoor activities that are fitness related. But walking to class or for shopping. Then umbrellas all the way.
If your establishment has a bathroom in it and you allow children in your establishment, you should be required to have a changing table in said bathroom.
If your establishment has a bathroom in it and you allow children in your establishment, you should be required to have a changing table in said bathroom.
This! And to go even further, there is a special place in hell for owners of establishments where the womens bathroom has a changing table and the mens room doesn't.

And in the men's restroom too, damn it! I am so sick of MH going to change E somewhere, then coming back and telling me there's no changing table in the men's, so I'll have to do it. (Not that I mind changing my own child's diaper, but with my huge belly, and my pelvis and back issues, it's just a lot easier for him to do it in public places than it is for me.)

If you are loitering in a public space, you shouldn't do it where you are disrupting the flow of traffic. The top or bottom of an escalator is not a place for chit chat. Blocking a door is not a good place to enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend. In the center of the grocery aisle is not convenient for anyone else in this world for you to have a family reunion with your 5 cousins and their 14 kids. Other people are trying to continue on with their lives, move it aside people, move it aside.

Oh, that reminds me!!! All grocery stores should be set up like the BX I went to once with a friend. There aisles were marked like roads, and you could only go up in one lane or down in the other. It seemed weird at first, but the flow was so nice!! There was no blocking of the whole aisle, and you could pass the person in front of you if needed and the aisle was clear.
The whole blocking the grocery aisle thing? It really varies with where you are in the country. I've lived in places where people were very polite and conscious of things like this and I've lived in places where people took 2 carts. 6 kids and meandered down the middle, stopped to talk, stopped to answer the phone, stopped to smack the kids who couldn't behave. You could be standing right there looking at them and obviously waiting for them to move and it wouldn't phase them.
I like when there is no changing station anywhere so then I can just do it wherever I want. Those things are nasty. I'm better about using them now, but every time I do I picture the time I saw a lady changing a diaper and there was poop ECERYwhere. Gross.
I have to lay down paper towels on there before I can put my kid on there. I have germ issues, and those things freak me out. That's another reason MH does most of the public changes. I get anxiety about it. Too bad that lady wasn't using cloth - probably would've contained the mess better.

I think that your kid being able to unlock your phone or iPad and do whatever it is with it that you're so proud of does NOT, in fact, prove they are a genius and learning so much. It means you let them play with your shit way too damn much. Electronics are not babysitters.
I'm agree. Intead of helping their kids, they are make them stupid. They can be very smart but what's the point if you don't let them splore they environment, to feel learn from their mistake. It so sad to see LO with a tablet at the store or in a restaurant while the parents are not putting attention to them.
I keep a flannel receiving blanket to throw down on the changing table first. I hate the idea of changing DS at a restaurant table where we're eating, and using very slanted back seat of my car is way more exercise than I care to engage in these days.

But then you have to carry that dirty flannel receiving blanket with you when you leave. And I will inevitably forget about it, and not wash it, and pull it out of the diaper bag a month later, and wrap my newborn up in it. Vomit!

M peed all over the changing table at the zoo last week. I did my best to clean it.
I usually carry a muslin blanket to use if I feel the need to cover while nursing in public, and a flannel blanket to use on the changing table. They go in the hamper when I unpack my bag.

That's so cute that you can remember to unpack and repack the bag between trips. Haha, I always fail hard at that.

Well, I'm good with some parts. I forgot to pack a wetbag twice this week. And my gym bag is a disaster- I found my swimsuit in it last week. The last time I went swimming was in November.

I have another. Just because you did something during your first pregnancy (ate sushi, dyed your hair, used products with retinol, whatever) and your kid "turned out fine" does not mean that what you were doing is 100% safe or that other moms should follow suit. I'm not saying that my examples are necessary dangerous, but I hate it when moms use this as a way to poo-poo the concerns of FTMs or parents who prefer to limit their children's exposure to possible toxins.
Other than the retinol bit I did everything you listed during both pregnancies. All of which was approved by all my OBs. If things like sushi or coloring your hair was bad you'd have no pregnant hair stylists or japanese women. :P
