Do Your Rings Still Fit?

edited March 2014 in June 2014 Moms
At 28 weeks I just had to take mine off so they didn't get stuck. Do yours still fit or did they come off ages ago? I'm curious. Also, in the comments, are you wearing a fake or not? Wearing your rings on a necklace?

Re: Do Your Rings Still Fit?

  • I'm wearing my real ones on a special necklace from DH that I wear everyday anyway.  I will probably dig out my big fake diamond that's also a few sizes larger than my actual rings to wear, not because I care what people think, but because my finger feels naked!

  • I voted took them off in second tri, but I'm kind of a SS. My e-ring has the safety balls on it and got tight really fast. One of my bands is uncomfortable so I just don't bother, and my other band (DH is sweet and upgraded me at Christmas, but I can't stop wearing my original, too) still fits because I never got it sized. I was pregnant and figured I could wait until I wasn't. So I don't need a fake. I am too nervous to put my e-ring or band on a necklace, though.

  • I had a formal event to attend in mid-January and picked up a fake ring to go with my other faux bling for the evening. Been wearing that ever since.
I'm too chicken to wear the real ones on a necklace in case they got loose and fell off.
  • I'm still wearing mine, but by the end I probably will not be.
  • I never realize I need to take them off until it's too late and they're stuck.
  • Mine still fit but I don't know if they would if I were wearing them everyday. I wear them....1-2x/week maybe? and its been that way since we got engaged. I'm just not a big ring person. I don't wear anything else in their place either, so if it comes down that I can't wear them anymore I won't be getting a fake set or putting them on a necklace, they'll just be in my jewelry box like they always are.

  • I still have mine on, but they're starting to get tight.  I never wear necklaces, so I'm too nervous to put my rings on one.  I'll either buy a larger cheap ring, or not wear anything.

  • I took off my engagement ring and my anniversary band, but I'm still wearing my wedding band (for now).  It gets snug when my fingers swell throughout the day, but it is fine most of the time.  We'll see how long it lasts!

  • My last two pregnancies I couldn't wear them after about 20 weeks. So far mine fits but I dont know if I will be lucky enough to make it to the end.
  • Still wearing mine but I know that when the weather warms up and actually stays warm, my fingers will swell and I will have to stop wearing them. DH got me a beautiful opal ring for our anniversary that I currently wear as a right hand ring and it is too big for my ring finger at the moment, so I think I will switch that over once I take my real ones off.

  • With DS1 I wore my rings until 36 or 37 weeks I think. So far it seems it will be the same. I didn't replace them with anything but did try to wear them on a necklace when I remembered
  • My last pregnancy I had to remove them at about 20 weeks and then I lost them :( (found them when DS was about 18 months) thankfully they still fit now but on some days they are snug. Pretty sure I will not make it to the end of my pregnancy wearing them. I do have a necklace with my husbands badge that I wear daily that I plan to put them on this time so I don't lose them.

  • I just had to take mine off yesterday. I'll probably just not wear anything since my normal ring size is a 3.75 and I doubt I'll swell enough to fit into a 5 which is I think the smallest size you can normally buy
  • So far they fit exactly the same.  If I need to stop wearing them I may wear another ring just because I am used to having something on my finger and would probably keep dwelling on it.  I'm not a necklace person.

  • Took mine off at 26 weeks. Too afraid to lose them if a necklace breaks. I had planned to get cheap fake ones just not to feel so bare without them, but haven't gotten around to it so don't know if I will bother.
  • Still wearing mine but I'm in same boat as @MegK82‌ ... They were pretty loose to begin with

  • I can still wear mine, but thy are a pain to get on in the morning. I wake up with puffy fingers. Usually, the swelling is down after a couple of hours. Last pregnancy, I could wear them the entire time. With my first, they had to come off. I'm expecting that they will have to come off with this one too. My swelling is much like my first pregnancy.

I wear my band all the time, but I take my e-ring off when I get home from work. It sits up a bit higher and I've scratched DS in the past, so I typically take it (and all my other jewellery off) when I get home from work.
It still goes on fine every morning though. I had no issues with them not fitting with DS, and this time things are still looking good, so I hope I'll be okay.

I would like a new ring to wear on mat leave, one that I wont be able to scratch anyone with, and will be able to wear as a stacker after I start wearing my e-ring on a regular basis again.
  • I think I made it to 8 months last time around, at that point I would take them off at night. So far it's been fine.

  • Yes, but with DD I had to take them off closer to the end.  I'm pretty sure my fingers will swell this time around too.

  • I wear all my rings on my necklace chain now.

1 At work, I was taking them off anyway when assisting a client with getting dresses or changing adult diapers.
    2. A couple weeks ago, The skin around my ring finger appeared to be peeling, I figured it was retaliating against my rings.
  • I took mine off at 26weeks a after hearing multiple horror stories from friends who had to get theirs cut off. Got a fake ring one size up but it's a little too big although as the weather gets hotter and I get bigger I'm sure it will fit just fine.
  • I had to take them off in the beginning because of weird swelling. Around 16 weeks I got them back on but I took them off again around 22. They were tight and the skin around them was starting to rub raw.

I keep saying I'll buy a fake because it feels weird to not have them but I've not bothered yet.

  • While pregnant with my daughters, my fingers never swelled and I was able to wear my rings through labor and delivery. So far so good this time too!

  • Mine came off as soon as we announced around 13 weeks.

I've got a 'spare' set  (a simple gold band and a promise ring from DH) that I have been wearing and those are getting tight now too.

  • At some points in first tri I had to take mine off. Started to just wear my band. I am now on and off with just my band. If I go out I try to wear both rings. Usually have to use soap and water to take them off later however.

  • Still wearing mine and will keep wearing them until I can't. When I can't I will put them on a necklace that way I will always have them with me. If I don't have my rings I feel odd with out them, like something is missing.
  • Some days I can wear them, but most days I can't anymore :(

  • I can't remember exactly when I had to take mine off with DD, but I bought a nice $50 fake at the time and wore that at the end. I'm shocked I've made it this long still wearing my rings, but have my fake ready to go for when the weather gets warmer and I start to swell more.

  • I don't foresee taking them off. I took them off with DD only when we left to goto the hospital...I didn't want to lose anything in case I needed to take them off in an emergency situation etc.
  • Mine made it to about 27 weeks and were then relegated to my necklace. They weren't always tight, but there would days that would be harder than others to remove them and I didn't want to get stuck in the situation of fighting to get them off.

I had to give up my engagement ring about a month ago. I'm still forcing my wedding band on and having to lotion up to get it off at night. I don't think I'll be able to wear it past this weekend.

  • I took mine off at 26 weeks. I've always swelled easily, especially when I a hot. There are times that my rings still fit because my hands aren't swollen but the moment I have a hot flash my hands turn into sausages. My office is never a comfortable temperature for a pregnant person so my hands were always so swollen, I decided I shouldn't risk it anymore.

  • My fingers have been swelling then going back to normal alot but I think I'll beable to keep my real rings on this time. when I went to the hospital to have my son I took my rings off and wore then on a necklace because I was afraid I would lose them they were pretty big on my finger but good so far this time.
  • My fingers were swollen in the summer with DS so I imagine they will be this time too. Especially since I'm farther along.
