Interesting name trend

DS1 is in kindergarten this year and I have noticed a very interesting trend in the younger siblings' names. The vast majority of us did not know each other when these younger siblings were being named.

Boys:

Xavier

Peter

Patrick

Charlie

Francis (DS2)

Oswald/Ozzy

All are saint names which isn't surprising since this is a Catholic school. 

Girls:

Myla

Isla

Stella

Kiera

Della

Lilah

Ella

Grace

Maeve x2

Liliana/Lily

Eloisa/Isa

Marianne

Frances/Francie

Magdalena/Maggie (DD)

So many 2 syllable ending in -a or -la names!! The other interesting thing is that there are 2 Ella/Grace sister pairs. Those two moms were so surprised when they found that out! One set is Ella & Grace and the other is Grace, Ella, & Maeve. 

They boy names are much more traditional and the girls names are much more trendy, which more or less reflects the SSA list. But it is so fascinating to me!

I think a lot of people are going back to basics - i.e., the names our grandparents' generation was given. "Antiquated" names are making a bigger comeback each year, (i.e. Henry & Stella) but some, I believe, will take a few more listens (and brave parents) before they peek into the top 100 (i.e. Grover & Hilda).

Those short "ends in A" names for girls are super in right now, and super trendy sounding to me, IMO. Very on-trend choices across the board it seems.

P.S. Your kids have the best names hands down.

I know a sister sib set that has an Ella Grace (fn/mn) and a Leah Maeve!
