Monday I had posted in the symptom thread that I was having a lot of swelling in my feet, fingers and a little around my eyes, many of you responded that I should call my Dr. so I did, they got my in yesterday for an appointment and right after the nurse checked my blood pressure and urine they rushed me to L&D.
I had a protein level of 4 in my urine and extremely high blood pressure. I have been diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and I will be remaining on bed rest in the hospital until baby has to be delivered, at this point we don't know if that will be days or weeks, my Dr's goal is to keep me stable and keep me pregnant for as long as possible to give Liam the best chance.
I was given steroids for his lungs and magnesium for his brain just in case so now it is just a waiting game to see how we do.
So I would like to thank all of you that suggested calling my Dr. you may have saved my life and Liam's. I would also like to stress that a lot swelling can be bad, I thought it was just a normal annoying pregnancy symptom but boy was I wrong.
Update:
Today is better, I am still being closely watched, my blood pressure has gone down some and stabilized however the protein in my urine is now at a 7 so at this point that is the biggest concern if that continues to get worse and I start showing any other signs of my kidneys failing then I will be taken into emergency C-section. At this point the Dr said as long as I am stable every day I am pregnant is potententially 3 less days that Liam will have to spend in the nicu so my goal of the day each day is to stay pregnant.
Update Liam is here!
Yesterday (Friday) Started out normal but after lunch my BP was fairly elevated so I was told to lay on my side to relax, after about an hour of that I started to feel some extreme pains in my upper right side. So my Dr.'s ordered labs done, it turns out my liver started freaking out and it was no longer safe for me to be pregnant. By 5pm Friday I was in the beginnings of the induction process but getting sicker and sicker by the minute, I was in such extreme amounts of pain and distress that they stopped the induction and prepped me for a C-Section.
Liam was born at 9:05pm last night weighing in at 2 pounds 13.5 ounces. He is doing well, so far he is able to breathe on his own and is as strong as can be expected for 28 weeks. I have been restricted to my bed since the surgery on several IV drugs so I haven't been able to go to the NICU to visit him yet but DH has been bringing me lots of pictures and videos of our little man. I am told that in the next 2 hours I should be able to get off the IV drugs and moved to a wheel chair to finally go and meet my baby. I am beyond excited to finally get to see him in person.
