*Where Can I Get My HCG Levels Tested asap ??**

Hi,

I am worried about missed miscarriage since any symptoms I had are now gone and I have just moved to a new state where I do not have a Dr. just yet nor insurance...
Where can I get my Hcg levels tested as soon as possible? I know I will worry until I just see levels going up...
I understand it may be pricey...

Thanks !!

  • Symptoms come and go, that's totally normal.

Take a deep breath and relax.  You cannot get blood drawn without doctor's orders, and having your symptoms disappear for a day is no cause to see a doctor.  Enjoy feeling well while it lasts!
  • Please use the link below to get an order.  Most likely you will end up at a lab corp.

  • Does anyone have experience with Clearblue Week indicator being accurate and raising?
It first showed at 2-3 weeks, If I take in a matter of days will it show 3+?
I think I am missing the reassurance since I have not seen or spoken to a doctor yet.
I NEVER thought I would be so worrisome...

    Sigh.

This test isn't accurate enough to reliably indicate doubling HCGs.  HCG measurements vary from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy.  If you read the test's information, ClearBlue says its' agreement with clinical pregnancy dating can be accurate as little as 45% of the time.  Do not expect your measurement to change immediately when you've crossed the three week threshold.

I've had two children.  I understand how stressful it can be.  But especially early in your pregnancy, you will go a long time between doctor's visits.  You simply won't get medical reassurance every day because pregnancy doesn't work that way, and if you try to read into every symptom (or lack thereof), you will go nuts.  You are pregnant today.  Take a deep breath and try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy until you have a reason to be concerned.  (Changing symptoms, FTR, is NOT a reason to be concerned.)
  • Relax! There are many women on this board, myself included, that haven't been to a doctor yet and you don't see us freaking out. And even for the ones that have been to a doctor and had HCG/betas checked aren't totally at ease. Pregnancy requires a shitload of patience - learn to deal with it.

  • Ok, so the general consensus is that I am currently losing my mind for no reason. fair enough.
I haven't told anyone other than my fiancé so far so it is difficult with no idea of how any of this works from friends with children, my mother/family, or a doctor.
Google has been insightful in the way that it tends to lead you to worst case scenarios from others.

Is the biggest part of the 1st trimester just being hopeful and patient or do most people go to the Dr. as soon as they find out they are pregnant?
  • also, what is QFP?

All doctors are different on when they schedule first visits. If you have no history that would concern a doctor, most probably won't see you till 8-10 weeks, give or take.

For me, I go in for a u/s and nurse appt between 8-9 weeks and don't actually have an appt with the doctor until 12-13 weeks (unless there is something wrong at the u/s)

For the most part, the ladies on here who are going to the doctor at 5-6 weeks and getting betas/HCG tests have a history of m/c or other complications or they had trouble conceiving to the point that they needed an RE.

My midwife doesn't see me until close to 8 weeks. These boards can be misleading for a lot of newly pregnant women because there is a lot of talk of early ultrasounds and beta level testing.  But for many women who don't have any medical history or previous losses or other complications, they don't see the doctor or midwife until 8 to 10 weeks, sometimes even later.

Enjoy not having symptoms - it is better than having incapacitating morning sickness!

Stop Googling symptoms. Or lack of symptoms. I know it's tempting, but just stop. No symptoms (especially very early in pregnancy) is totally normal.

My OB saw me at 7 weeks with my first pregnancy. Then they changed their policy before I got pregnant this time, and now they don't see you until 8-10 weeks pregnant. There's no reason to rush out to get testing or run to your doctor sooner.

  • It is a bit misleading. I figured 5-6 weeks is the norm- if not sooner.
When do most people count from considering it's pretty difficult to know the EXACT day or even week in my case that conception might have happened? I used Womanlog to track my period/ovulation for the past year so it gives about 10 days of a possible ovulation period.

If my last period was 2/4-2/9 and my ovulation dates followed that...should I assume 3? 4wks?

You count from the first day of your last period.

Yes,you are being crazy.  Most doctors won't see a pregnant woman until at least 8 weeks, unless there is a reason to be seen earlier (fertility issues, bleeding, history of loss, etc.).  The main reason being is that there is nothing they can do if you have an early m/c.  Early m/c are usually the result of some sort of genetic abnormality in the embryo to where it can't progress.

  • I had used one however it didn't seem accurate to add the additional week of my period etc when I was not pregnant during that time. Apparently that's just the way its calculated.

  • Your due date is counted from the first day of your last period. I recommend you stop googling symptoms and start googling the basics of pregnancy.

  • I know- I went on a downward spiral a few days ago when I realized my "pms" boobs were pregnancy boobs and went away already.  The idea of waiting a month for a dr. visit seems oooh so far away!
I was planning on doing two blood tests within a week or so for hcg levels, however I am hearing more and more that it is unnecessary to do at this point judging just by my now* lack of sensitivity with my chest.
  • FYI - I never had a single symptom with this pregnancy. Like, ever. I have a very active and happy little girl in there and will be 31 weeks tomorrow. Lack of symptoms does not equal problem pregnancy.
  • Thank you!

Symptoms come and go. With my first I had sore boobs and one day, they went away. You should have seen me feeling myself up, wondering if something was wrong with the baby. 9 months later, he was born - healthy and completely perfect.

I know that it seems a long time but trust me, it will go by quick.

  • I didn't see a doc until 10 weeks, and even then was just Q&A. Won't try for a heartbeat until after 12 weeks. 1st scan is 20 weeks. I have zero symptoms, not even a little. Just be patient with the waiting game, worst thing I did 1st time was google. Only negative stories, fight away from google.
  • Thanks, I appreciate that.
  • Get some prenatal vitamins and relax.

Getting a positive pregnancy is all about the hurry up and wait. You hurry up and test and then wait for your doctor's appointment.  At my OB's office you see a nurse for an in-take appointment around 8 weeks. That's where you go in, they check your blood pressure, height, weight and then you sit down in an office and go over your husband's and your medically history, the do's and don't of being pregnant, and then you leave.  You do not see the doctor, baby, or hear the heart beat until your 12 week appointment with the OB.  Yes, that mean 12 weeks is the first time you "confirm" your pregnant.  Now, if you have a history of a loss or other medical issues than obviously that situation can be different.  But, coming from someone who has had a loss -- you should be grateful you do not need to have your beta numbers checked, extra ultrasounds, etc.

Like other PP have said, stop goggling pregnancy symptoms, take a prenatal vitamin, don't sleep in a hot tub, and you'll be just fine. If you're going to "worry" this much your whole pregnancy you might as well wrap yourself in bubble wrap and stay inside for the next 8 months.

This is a thing!? I can see how this would be really good (some of the tests are really affordable if someone doesn't have insurance) and really bad (a. a hypochondriac and b. running a gamut of tests just to find something wrong that would have never affected you in the first place but now you need surgery).

I had PMS symptoms when my period was due. Then they went away, but it didn't show up for 4 days so I tested and it was positive. I was then symptom free until 7 weeks. Symptoms mean squat. And for initial dating purposes, you're already classed as 2 weeks pregnant when you are expected to ovulate. Once you have an ultrasound then they can give you a more accurate due date. I'm a clockwork 28 day cycle and my DD has been exactly the same throughout my pregnancy, based on my last LMP. I've had 4 ultrasounds and its never changed.

Just as an FYI to other people reading this - this isn't standard everywhere. Both times I've been pregnant, I had my first visit with my OB at my first appointment, and both times I got an ultrasound at my first appointment. With DS, I was just over 7 weeks when I first saw my OB, got an ultrasound, and went over medical history. This time, I was just over 9 weeks. I don't have a history of loss or other medical issues - it's just the way my OB does it.

Right. That's why I said "it's just the way my OB does it." I was just letting people know that it can be different depending on your OB.

  • So it's choosing between an 8-9 week visit, or a 12-13 week visit?
I am hearing 8 or 12 weeks and then again at 20 weeks to find out the gender of the baby.

Is that norm for the majority of women without known complications?

Since some people don't seem to have any symptoms, and they originally tested positive-
if you wait until 12 weeks- do women tend to test 1-2x between the months to make sure the hcg is still present? I am aware it can stay present for some time even if no longer pregnant..

It's not your choice when you go for the first ultrasound - it's your OB's. Some OB's have you wait until 12-ish weeks to have an ultrasound, some do it earlier. If you don't yet have an OB, I suppose you could call around and see what they do. Even if your OB doesn't order an ultrasound until 12 weeks, they will likely give you a urine pregnancy test at your first visit and possibly order bloodwork that includes a beta hcg test (among other things.)
