My UO: I think piercing a childs ears is wrong. I think ear piercing should be done when the child is old enough to ask for it.
It's not my favorite but it is part of some religions and cultures.. I wouldn't pierce my kids but I figure they will ask at some point.
Dh is Indian. His family was mortified that I didn't get dd1's ears pierced. I just always thought you did it on like an 8th birthdays when they asked for and got good grades. My mil kept asking why dd1's Dr didn't just do it. He was a 60yo Jewish man. I don't think it was on the top of his list. We ended up doing it when she was 2, for sil's wedding. I told dh he had to manage it. He did. I hope we can wait a lot longer to do the twins. I just hate the maintenance with younger kids.
I think if you are a professor and all your post-docs have to write grants to finance their own salaries the least you can do is supply them with the lab materials they work with. And don't tell them to hop to writing another grant to cover the lab materials.
Otherwise, what the hell are you doing as a professor? Sitting pretty and supplying your illustrious name, right? Because those grants your post-docs are churning out? They also pay part of the rent, the electrical bill, the salaries of your secretary. So you supply the...? Ideas? Not so much. At least, not in this case.
I can't wait to get my first minivan. Yes, I'm super cool.
Eww, keep quiet about this. I refuse to buy a minivan of any sort. SUV's serve the same purpose.
I have a Jeep Cherokee with a Hemi now and I LOVE IT!!! But my back does not love putting the car seat in and out of the back. I need something lower (even though I'm 5'11"). Plus I want those doors that open automatically!
I love how @meismx and @etoille are having a serious discussion while everyone else natters about poop and thongs.....
My UO today.....I'm sick of pro d days....one two weeks ago, a half day today, another tomorrow, one week of school and then spring break!!!! Enough already.....
I don't know how serious it really is. If you all saw the video of the chaos that was the hearing you'd all be rolling your eyes and chuckling at these elected officials. They acted like kids on the playground.

I disagree with you fklang - two weeks in a row! Shall we brawl again. ;-) I have an SUV and every time I see someone at daycare easily loading their kids and stuff in and out of their mini van, I get a little jealous. I don't think I can buy one myself, but I have witnessed that they are not the same. They totally seem more convenient for kids, even if I may be team SUV for lyfe.
Spartanmomma you are wrong... give thongs a chance! Can't beat the no VPL!
re: sunflower seed butter, It's pretty darn good! You should all become acquainted because you may need it some day for daycare or preschool or regular school or play spaces that are "nut free". The stuff comes in handy in this allergenic world! They even have it at my local grocery store, but it's cheapest at TJs.
My UO: I loathe the term "poo". I prefer it with a P on the end. MH says poo it and drives me crazy. I have no idea why I hate it so much. None. Sorry poo people!
Alright alright @mainerocks I concede partially on the minivan deal They're super convenient for moms.... but com'on.... they're so dorky looking. :-q
About this "poo" thing. I loathe the word poop with the p! ***shudders when I hear the word*** I prefer "poo" over "poop" and once again we disagree on wording. (FTR, I used sneakers instead of tennis shoes in my earlier post ). My H uses the word poop and it sounds really gross.
Basketball and Baseball are boring. In person and on TV. I can tolerate watching college football on TV, but my faaaaaaaaavorite sport to watch, in person OR on TV, is hockey. Go Flyers!
I'm over sunshine missions. They are becoming overdone. It seems like someone gets a hang nail and a sunshine mission gets started for them.
I must have been left off of that message. The ones I have been in on have been really important, I feel. It's one if those, don't want to participate, don't. ETA: I would feel super hurt if I was a sunshine mission recipient, ESP of late and someone referred to Compared things going on in my life to a hangnail. [-X

Everyone has problems. Just because not everyone discusses them doesn't mean they don't. So then, how do you say one is more important or "deserving" of kindness than another.

If they don't discuss them, how do we know? I am one to not discuss them..So you guys don't know. That's on me.

I don't discuss my problems on here either, but then again, what about the people that do. Maybe they feel bad that their problems weren't "big enough" to get one.
I certainly don't want to dismiss the bad things going on in someone's life, and if you want to send them something, go for it. Eh, I think i'm tired of logging on and seeing 65 emails.
@liz4444 that sounded mean. You don't have to participate but your comment would make me feel bad if I needed or received one.
But then again this is UO....I just don't know what you wanted to accomplish by saying that.
I like the sunshine missions B-)
Why would it make you feel bad unless you start one for yourself? The recipient has nothing to do with it.

I guess bc you compared the problems to a hangnail and I've only seen ones that are for very serious issues. Maybe it's just the ones I've been included on but it seems appropriate to me each time. Different perspective I guess.
Yeah the hangnail part made me cringe a little, but I haven't been around for many missions, maybe 3 and they were all things that I would never be able to handle with the dignity, strength and humor that these woman have.

I think Mark Wahlberg is a horrible actor.
Baseball is the best sport to watch on TV.
I hate watching all sports.
An early FFFC when they came out with the yellow first down line on TV, I said "How do they move the line so fast?"
The room got really quiet.
"All sports" tho?? What about football during the playoffs? No? Or going to a good baseball game on the perfect summer night? No?
I like football in person, but I prefer it on TV.
