We have this gate and had it in the corner of the living room but now Grayson wants to go everywhere so we have that gate around the tv and fish tank and have door openings gated off so he can move around the whole living room
We have been really happy with our North States super play yard. We got the multicolored 8 panel one.
We have this one as well. I like it a lot because it is sturdy. But LO doesn't like to be in it too long, so I unhook it to make it a bigger space and just block out parts of the room.

We have this one, 8 panels. It works great - she pulls up on it and it's perfectly safe.
@micabush We originally got it for our nanny because she watches N and another baby, so when she's feeding one a bottle it helps to keep the other corralled. But we've ended up loving it and using it a lot ourselves. Tbh, if she sees me outside it then she cries. But if I get out of sight she will play by herself for a long time! So my husband can use it better than me. I like it when I'm in the kitchen - the kitchen is open to the living room so I can keep an eye on her but I can hide behind the tall peninsula so she can't see me. And, yes, we have an open floor plan so gates don't really work.
Thank you ladies! I had seen all of these and was considering the north states. It's reassuring to hear other Lo's are doing well with it!
@micabush I honestly have no idea how J will react. We are actually in a situation where there is too little space and all wood floor (except the skip hop mat I currently have moved all the furniture for ) as it is now he is getting to the edge of it, pulling it up and eating it. If he had free reign of the "living room" it would be a matter of crawl steps before he was in something/near something/on top of something he shouldn't be or was dangerous. Ive baby proofed the best i can. I spend every minute corralling him these days and I'd like to pee without holding him I'm hoping the play yard could be a safe temporary solution while we look at new living situations.
This house is not big enough for the three of us! We've been actively looking but unfortunately nothing has worked out yet. FX it happens soon!
We have the 8 panel super yard from North States as well. I put a 6x6 play at under it. LO frequently plays in it. I also sit with her in and play with her. Its huge and in my kitchen -- largest open space available. She free-ranges as well.
