Ergo without Newborn Insert?

Hello! My little guy is 4 weeks and 11.5 lbs, with decent head control (for a 4 week old). I was wondering if I could use the Ergo without the newborn insert, since he's a bigger baby? Has anyone done this? TIA!

Re: Ergo without Newborn Insert?

  • You will at least need to roll up some receiving blankets to make a 'seat' to boost him up or he will be too low in the carrier.

If you don't already have an ergo, a beco Gemini would be a great choice! You don't need an insert and it is much more comfortable and user friendly than the ergo (in my personal experience).

  • I carried dd in my ergo from 4 weeks. I rolled up a small blanket to put under her butt to prop her up a bit. Never used insert because I was concerned about it being too hot.
  • Hmmm. I was looking att he Beco Gemini, I think that's the way to go. Thanks!
  • The Beco Gemini is an awesome carrier and doesn't need an infant insert!
