TTC After a Loss

Crinone users come in please

My RE has given me a RX for crinone gel to use starting 4 days after O once we start TTCing again. I have pretty crappy RX coverage and found out that a 28 day supply will cost over $500. Has anyone had any luck finding it for cheaper??

Not the same, but similar... I was on a high dose of prometrium before my insurance kicked in and I paid $100/wkly for it. I asked the pharmacist about cheaper brands and he said progesterone supps are always expensive since they started using it for menopause (causes a shorter supply). Check the infertility board as they have programs listed for discounts on certain meds. If all else fails, maybe see if they can give you a weeks supply at a time? It's at least not such a big hit to the pocket book all at once.

Thank you for your advice! I am going to post in the IF and PgAL boards too- good idea.

I was in the same boat. My jaw dropped when I got my 2 week supply, it was close to $300. The pharmacist said I should appeal to my insurance to see if I could get the price reduced. I called my insurance and had to write a letter of financial hardship and had my RE write a letter of medical necessity. I was able to get my price down to $60/28day supply. Thank goodness because it adds up. Good luck!

I feel like giving you my prometrium. With Dhs insurance and healtcare I think it costs me 6$ a month. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this - this is ridiculous!

For some reason , our insurance covers all meds except Crinone and Endometrin. So of course my RE only uses those two progesterones....or the PIO, which I did in combo for last FET. Most of the FET cycle I was able to find donations, which seemed to get me through most of the time I was on it but we did have to buy two boxes and it was about that cost. Yeesh!!! Can you take another form?? I know my RE said no, but maybe other REs aren't particular? If so...I've got some prometrium too , maybe @PinkCamino and I can be your suppliers, heehee :)

Actually, I've got a bit left too. I'd definitely get in on that. Does anyone what the regulations are on shipping meds cross boarder?

Thank you ladies! I am going to talk to my RE and see if there are any other options considering the cost is so high for Crinone. I'll let you know if I need your "supply"!

When I was first prescribed Crinone and waiting for paperwork to go through, I wasn't sure if it would be covered by my insurance, so I called around for pricing. Costco was much cheaper than Walgreens--about $250 for 15 doses, as opposed to $430 at Walgreens. I was fortunate in that my insurance ended up covering it, but I hope this info can help someone else!

    Siggy Warning….

My insurance would not cover crinone, but covered vaginal progesterone suppositories.  Instead of paying over $600 a month, I paid only $40. Good luck!

I hope it is ok that I posted.  If it is not, just let me know.

This is helpful to know!! I am calling my RE tomorrow to ask about all of this!
