The went straight to a full size bed because I wanted to buy one bed to last her until she went to college.

We originally transitioned G to a toddler bed, but since we are tight on space his room doubles as the guest room and a few months ago he started climbing into the queen size bed in the middle of the night, so he just sleeps in the queen size bed now, not the "tiny" bed as he calls his toddler bed now.
TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck
Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man. Born 12/2/11
TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended
Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good. Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.
We bought a twin bed at Ikea that also has an option to pull out a drawer and make it fit 2 people that way (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40228708/). We figured the kids might want to have sleepovers later or guests could use this bed when we are running out of room. And it will hopefully last for many years!
He is still in his crib though and I don't think we are anywhere close to transitioning him.
With DD we did a twin - it was my stepdaughter's bed (now 12). With DS we converted his crib into a full and I love it. So nice to lay in it to read books at night. Poor DD wants a bigger bed now too. DS still wakes up in the middle of the night and needs someone there, so my bad habit is I go and fall asleep in his bed. Bad habit, but so much better than trying to sleep on the floor!
We haven't moved him yet, but because DS's crib came with a toddler rail we'll start with that. We also have 2 twin beds that were in the guest room, and my mom bought the full-sized conversion kit for the crib so we have tons of options when the time comes.
Had to go with SS ... We went with the toddler bed - since the crib is a convertible it's sort of stupid not to... I also like the fact that it's closer to the ground for DS to get into/out of a lot safer since he's not exactly an acrobat at this point... When he's a bit older we'll move him into the twin size bed in his room. No real space for anything bigger in there...
