Intro/Any other single women out there?

Hi everybody, I'm Allie.

I've been single for almost five years now, and, having looked at all my options, have decided I'm going to try and get pregnant as a single woman. I'm using sperm from two unknown donors. At my last ovulation I tried getting pregnant turkey baster style, and was so weirded out by the whole experience, it really was no surprised it failed miserably. So, I'm going for my first set of Artificial Insemination/IUI on the 11th of March, and to be honest, I'm really nervous.

I was wondering if there are any other single women trying to get pregnant through Artificial Insemination out there, and how your experience went? Also, how old are you? because I'm apparently very young to be considering single motherhood (I'm 30).

    Hi and welcome! I don't think we have any single moms/moms-to-be here right now, but several who have used donor sperm due to male factor infertility (MFI) who've done IUIs. Congrats on making the decision and knowing what you want!

    Another board with loads of women doing IUIs is the LGBT board, you might lurk over there and/or post if you have questions. I'm active on that board too and we're a nice bunch. :)

    Sept. '12 - Tubes removed
    Dec. '12 - Donor Egg/Donor Sperm IVF Cycle - 4 good embies!
    Dec. '12 - Fresh transfer, BFP! EDD 8/29/13
    Mar. '13 - Missed m/c at 16w1d, baby boy stopped growing at 15w4d
    Loss due to umbilical cord clot...baby was perfect. :(
    Jul '13 - FET#1 - c/p
    Sept. '13 - FET#2 - BFN
    Dec.' 2, 2013 - FET#3 with our last chance embie - BFP!!!
    Dec' 26, 2013 - hb!!
    EDD 8/20/14 with a baby girl!
    Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.
    We live in Seattle and used SRM for our donor egg IVF cycle

    Welcome! I am not single, so no advice there but I admire you for going after what you want.

    As far as being nervous for IUI, the actual procedure is no more annoying than a Pap smear (at least for me it never was). The trouble trying to conceive board also has many women doing IUI.

    Hi and welcome. On my home board (TTC35+) there is one girl who is single and doing IUI DS. I'm on my phone but will look on computer tonight and can tag her.

    I did know someone IRL who was single and did DS awhile back..can't remember how old she was at the time but now has a beautiful daughter and said she never regretted her decision! Another girl from my home board also did DS who was single and now has twin girls :)

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!
