You have got to be f**king kidding me (BFP warning)

I have been wandering around my house in shock. I got a BFP this morning. I keep looking at it, wondering how in the hell this managed to happen. But it is definitely there, staring up at me from the FRER.

This is my 5th cycle post-miscarriage. We didn't do nearly anything--literally--this month in terms of trying because my entire household has been a typhoid wing. My kid had croup, then a double ear infection that we're still treating.
In the midst of the chaos, DH and I had sex a whopping one time this month. And DH, wanting to ensure a masterful performance, had taken care of some things in the shower that morning. So sex one time this month, with DH's "second string" swimmers. DH is beaming with pride about his virility, and I'm still processing the pee stick in front of me. At 42.5, you don't think that a one-off is going to get you pregnant, but here we are.

Symptoms: PMS symptoms. Sore boobs and cramping, like every other month. Also, I got sick twice this month, which never happens as I have the immune system of a ninja, even when surrounded by sick people.

I had a miscarriage in September, and realize that the odds are stacked against me in terms of this going to plan. I am not ready to intro on PG>35 or PGAL yet, and may avoid the BMB altogether this time around. I hope you don't mind if I just lurk around these parts for a while.

EDD (based on LMP): 11/6/2014

The obligatory pee stick. I just took this picture and sent it to my friend who will be 43 in July, and is having her baby shower today for her first LO (she was diagnosed DOR, and somehow her second IUI took--her RE was amazed, and she is so excited!). If my last pregnancy had held, our babies would have been two weeks apart. Hopefully this pregnancy is healthy and our kiddos can be friends. :)

Hooray for 40+ moms. And holy crap.

Me: 42, DH: 40; Surprise BFP 4/27/2011; no heartbeat at 9w3d, we miss you, Baby Manatee; D&C 6/1/2011; AF returned 6/26/2011; Ready to try for our take-home baby. 7/24/2011--BFP! Peanut born March 2012; BFP: 7/31/2013!; blighted ovum at 7 weeks 8/26/2013. Holy Cannoli! BFP 2/23/2014. EDD 11/6/2014!

Thank you all so much. I am still very much in shock, and rocking the worst headache (either hormone or sinus infection induced) possible. And I can't take anything for it. My trusty bottle of Advil is in my purse, and I'm thisclose to holding it to my head, in the hopes of pain reduction via osmosis.

I called my doctor (or rather, his nurse, who is the bomb) and they called in the beta and progesterone blood draw for me. I went and did that earlier today. No word on either yet (HCG should come first, probably tomorrow). The nurse was all "Wow, that is EARLY for a positive test!" (the first day of my LMP was 1/30). I'm a little concerned because, with my last pregnancy, I got a positive on CD 23, and that pregnancy ended up being a blighted ovum. With my son, I didn't get a positive test until CD 28. My cycles before I got pregnant with my son tended to be 26 days, but increased to 28-29 days with acupuncture. After my son, they've settled back into 25-28 days cycles, usually around 26. I just hope that Little Fertilized Egg is mature enough to hang for the duration.

@JimBobCooter: Those gifs are fantastic!!! (And thank you for your kind words!!)

@On42: Congrats again on a great first beta! I will likely mosey over to PG>35 once I have the 8 week "Hey, what's in there?" ultrasound. If that goes well, you will see me over that way. I was active on the April 2014 board, but should have waited to intro, as it sucked when I had to post about my loss. So I will flap about this board like a bat for a while longer

Hopefully I will have my beta numbers in the morning. I try not to put much stock into the initial number (my first beta for my son was a whopping 33), but I still hope it's as robust as it can be for this early on in the game.

The first beta is in, at 36. Had my first beta with my son not been 33, I would be freaking out, but they have to start somewhere right? Hopefully it will more than double by tomorrow. The great news is that my progesterone came back at 22.45, which is the highest it has EVER been through any of my now-4 pregnancies. HOORAY progesterone. What's not so great is that my blood pressure, which had been a delightful 115/65 has shot up to the 130s/80s. Fortunately, I have a cardiologist who has followed me for years, and although I have managed my BP with natural methods thus far, if I need BP meds, so be it. I'm 42 and overweight, this is not shocking to me. So I immediately began my "Must Grow Human" diet and am hoping this helps to keep the BP at bay for the time being. So there's today's update!

Thank you! Your next beta is tomorrow too, yes? I hope you get a fabulous number as well!!!

With my son, my first beta was 33. I was positive it was a chemical pregnancy, but the next beta was 95, which was great. I am hoping for the same or better this time. I will do a few more betas (the perks of being ancient include that my oby-gyn will do whatever tests I want), just to ensure that we're cooking with gas, so to speak.

YAY for your awesome beta!!! I am strangely okay with the wait, probably because I know there could likely be another beta after this (and more waiting). And with my last loss still pretty fresh in my mind, I am trying to stay guarded, but that is easier said than done. I am tired (probably from the Crinone) and want cookies, but that's not all that different from how I am normally (except I have my cookies with a big glass of wine).

How are you feeling??? You must be so excited!!

Well, the beta is in. 62. My doctor and nurse were totally okay with that, as they look for the beta to rise 66% in 48 hours and mine rose faster than that, which, to them, is great. But to me, this reads as a 57.83 doubling time, and that just doesn't seem good to me. With my son, I went from 33 to 95 from beta 1 to 2. 36 to 62 seems kind of lame. The nurse seemed surprised that I wanted another beta (heck, I might want two more after this), but I don't want to be spending all sorts of money on crinone for a pregnancy that isn't meant to be--better to know sooner rather than later.

I'm also rocking some serious dry mouth and was up 3 times last night to pee. The doctor is running a urine test to make sure that everything is okay.

For the world's tiniest baby, he/she sure is causing me a lot of problems!!!

If you can, try to have faith in the doctor(s). That seems within the normal doubling time of 48-72 hours. Will you go in again on Saturday for another beta?? Or, could you, for more reassurance?

I am so hoping this little babe sticks with you! xo
