FFFC

Ok so it's a few mins early for me but I'll forget by morning.

My FFFC: I don't like that kids are so into technology today. I want Ellie to learn how to interact with people on a face to face basis. There was a kid at work today that could barely communicate with an adult properly (he was 9-10). He could text and talk on the phone fine but he could barely talk to me. It's not that he was shy, he just couldn't communicate to someone right in front of him. Not everything should be technology based for kids. I can see where it can be useful but they also need to learn to play without technology.

  • I posted this the other day, but I still use the My Brest Friend every time I nurse.
Also, I haven't seriously considered swim lessons for LO because I'm not ready to put this pasty, chubby body in a bathing suit yet (me, not LO. His pasty, chubby legs are adorable.)

I still use the boppy every time I nurse. Also, no way in hell I'm putting my fat a** in a bathing suit anytime soon. LO will have to wait for swim lessons.

Off the technology theme, I think having a smart phone has made me a worse mom. I didn't have one until G was 2 and I know I was paying attention to him way more and not always checking my phone. I know I don't look at and interact with Lo as much as I did on my days home with G because of it. It's bad. I really need to put this fvcker down once in a while.
I totally agree. I get a little bored sometimes when LO is just playing with his toys and find myself playing with my phone way too much.
  • Last night LO was up all night not like hysterically crying but just whining. I fed him, changed and rocked him multiple times. DH and I were both awake for 3 hours taking turns. So for the first time ever I just turned the monitor's sound off and went to sleep. I feel kinda guilty but he was fine and still loves me this morning.

We have been house hunting for a month and think we might have found THE house. I won't pull the trigger and make an offer since it was literally the 5th house we saw. But I cried the other night when I couldn't find it online and thought it had been sold (it's still for sale).

We bought the first house we looked at this time! We looked at 8 after in the same day and I was like, nope, that's the one! When you know you know.

  • I told my mom, MIL, and DH not to come to lo's hospital appointment today. Not because I'm not nervous, but because I don't want to have to worry about them too. Such high maintenance!

DH is usually fine, but he still thinks he's getting over his man cold.

  • @WorkinIt that is too funny, I can just picture the kids. I try to be vague about flossing, "not as much as I should". Apparently she hears that a lot.

  • @34blondie I haven't been through that but I have a fear of something similarish- since at almost 9mo pp it still hurts to have sex, I'm pretty sure something is wrong "down there". I chocked it up to being dry from breastfeeding... But, it took me close to 3 months to pee/wipe pain free. Anyway, I hope you get it figured out. I know you have a whole separate issue with your blood clotting, which I am sure makes it 100% scarier!! But just remember it never hurts just to get it checked out. :) gl lady.

  • This might get me flamed. I have been keeping lo's crib mattress on her floor because I'm tired and side-lying nursing is easier than holding her to nurse then rocking then putting her in her crib. Putting her in her crib always = multiple wake ups and I just want to roll away and be done. Anyhoooo... Twice now I have found her halfway off the mattress. Once was just her head and I panicked... So I put a rolled up blanket and pillows by the side to block her in. But then last night, thanks to rolling(?) I found her on her belly with her knees on the floor and chest propped up on the bed. She apparent pushed the pillows away... She's not crawling and up until 2 days ago she wasn't rolling so I was hoping this mattress on the floor thing would work, but apparently not. Now I have to figure out another way and its going to suck.

  • Daycare sends home LO's crib sheet every day.  I inspect it for any obvious signs of gross, and then just send it right back.  Do they seriously think I do laundry every day?
What!? Ours does once a week.  Every day is just crazy unless you have a baby who constantly spits up or leaks from the diaper.

I want to buy a tankini because I feel flabby.  H says I don't need to cover all of the extra skin (he thinks I look fine), but I still think I want to buy one.

  • This will garner flames.. I put LO on the top of the cart. I have with all 3 of my kids. I will continue to do so until we move him to a convertible seat and I am just carrying him in the store.
  • I've started referring to J13 as "the board" or "an internet board" when talking to people not on the bump. It is more anonymous and sounds somewhat official: Board of Trustees, Board of Regents, governing board, the bump J13 message board.

I call you all Bumpie moms to my parents and then just say a forum to strangers!

  • I might have a true FFFC.  I let Lily have a sippy cup at her disposal of water.  It's not for practicing.  She sometimes is just thristy and BM or formula makes her spitty.  Andplusalso, I'm pretty sure she has had almost everythng she's not supposed to eat except honey or fish.  MIL gave her peanut butter frosting, so that no peanut thing went out the window.  We don't give it to her, but she has had it.

Yeah this is flameworthy.  Why, knowing the risks and seeing the videos of babies falling, would you continue to do it?  In my opinion there is just no good reason to risk that for a little more cart space.
I had never even heard that this was a no-no until I was pregnant with this LO. Of the 2 videos I've seen, the parents weren't anywhere near the cart. DD2 figured out how to escape the buckle early on sitting with the cart cover. So, if I was stupid enough to walk away, she could just have easily have stood up and gotten hurt too. And, "A little more cart space"? A car seat takes up a bit more than just "a little bit" of cart space. I am always standing right there with a hand on the cart, and for you that may not be good enough. For me, it is. I highly doubt I'm the only person who has ever shopped with the seat on top, I'm probably just the only one to admit it.
