WTF Wednesday

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • Mine after spending my day upset about a girl I didn't know/crying over Hailey Owens' unfortunate death...

Allow me to go on a tirade for a second... I have two news pages on my Facebook. One from NC and one from MO. Between the two today there have been reports of a 5 month old being shot, 5 cases of child pornography/molestation, and one case of child abduction/murder/I'm sure the rape report is to come. Obviously some of these will be first time offenders and flew under the radar, but some of them will be second or third time offenders. We're clogging up the justice system with petty crimes and drug offenses and letting child victimizers get off easily. I grew up in a town where there were people who had offended before, everyone warned you to avoid them, but fuck if you didn't have to serve them in a restaurant. We used to have one come into the cafe when I was a teen and drink coffee all day, watching us. If you commit a crime involving a child, your ass should be removed from society -permanently. I don't care whether in that means that your ass gets shot in the head or you spend the remainder of your life in general population in a prison, but I'm tired of those fucking red dots on my family watchdog screen. I'm tired of being afraid to let my daughter walk to the bus stop at the end of the block. I'm tired of being extremely paranoid and feeling like I'm the one with a mental issue.

  • Oh joy, I have another.

WTF self, can you not eat your lunch?  seriously, you need the food, eat it.
(25 minutes to eat 1/2 cup of chili, blah)

    @lest12
I think we all deserve some self-pampering.  Maybe we should pick a day and schedule stuff and then "bump" and talk about how awesome it was to get pedis, manis, or massages?  It would give me an excuse to schedule one...

@nelleebelle - great idea! Maybe on Mondays... You know, we should be able to take 20 minutes to do something nice for ourselves over the weekend, right?

Wtf to one of the techs above me (I'm a student) acting like we r bff's and then telling lies to my supervisor about me and how I work. I work my ass off at this internship and yet she tries to F it up by saying I don't know what I'm doing and don't show initiative? now my supervisor who used to see me as such a good worker, now sees me as a slacker because he believes anything his coworkers say. This better not ruin my career. And it broke my heart to hear that after how hard I've been working

I'm dealing with a similar situation at work and it sucks. I'm still trying to figure out how exactly to handle it.

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this too. It's a horrible situation.. Why can't life be easy and everyone love each other? Ha! Good luck to you!
  • Need some advice from you ladies. Our current lease expires at the end of May (Friday, 30th) and it seems pretty certain that our landlord won't renew with us as he wants to sell. I am due June 9th. We were considering trying to make him sign another 6 month lease with us, but I doubt he will. It will still be stressful for not only me but also DH. As this is his last week of teaching (He's done June 5th), so he will have finals and grading to do. Although he has a really positive attitude and is willing to go above and beyond to get this delt with.

We are lucky because many other leases will expire around this time, so we will have a lot to choose from. The movers here (Singapore) fully pack and unpack (we are used to doing it ourselves).

I was planning on working up until the end. But am now considering leaving for the last week of May to deal with this.

Is this doable? Or are we insane? What if babe comes early?

  • Wtf asshat lady at DPW in PA! My grandmother is elderly. She just recently got the internet (and it's dial up for real!). My point being, she doesn't understand why she can't get in touch with her life insurance agent. She can't find the updated number because her policy is 20 years old. You have the power of fucking google. DO NOT MAKE AN OLD WOMAN CRY ABOUT A GOD DAMNED PHONE NUMBER AFTER SHES BEEN DEALING WITH PUTTING HER HUSBAND IN A NURSING HOME! And, when she puts you on the phone with her pregnant hormonal granddaughter (who just listened to her cry while pleading for help) DO NOT GET SNIPPY WITH HER. She will reach through the phone and cut a bitch. Also, when said granddaughter (who lives 1000 miles away) tells you the information you need, do not demand it in writing. It's common fucking knowledge, accept it as truth and do your fucking job! I cannot wait to go home for the shower, I'm seriously making a side stop on the trip to have a word with this woman about her professionalism (I gave her an earful today too). Why are people seriously hateful fuck twats?!!?!??

  • @BMaidPlanner I'm having the same issue. My doctor has been taking Zantac 75. I can take it twice a day if needed. I know other ladies have said their doctors were fine with Zantac 150, but mine recommended the lower dosage. Hope you feel better!

I've never had heartburn pre pregnancy so i just turned to Tums but it's miserable and i can't eat them all day. A prescription hadn't occurred to me. I will def ask my ob about this at my appt, thank goodness it's next week. I don't know why I wait for a symptom to be unbearable before i ask for help!

Its an OTC med so you could get it sooner if you wanted. I would probably double check with your OB, but it shouldn't be an issue.

WTF heartburn and swallowing back acid no matter what I eat or drink. I don't know if I will have a throat left by the time this baby arrives. I don't know what I'm supposed to do about it either. Anyone? Bueller?
@BMaidPlanner - I just got this article the other day in my email about natural ways to overcome pregnancy symptoms and the first one was heartburn, which I have been having issues with too. I just bought some coconut water and raw almonds to see if they would help. Maybe this could help you too? Good luck!

  • @shakeweights Yay! Hopefully they don't screw up again! I usually write to companies when I have issues. I find they quickly do their best to make things right. I am definitely not a, "May I please speak to the manager?" type of gal.

I eat tums all day. Zantac and Prevacid do nothing :(

Sometimes heartburn can be caused by too little stomach acid. This sounds crazy but you could try a little bit of diluted apple cider vinegar roughly 1 TSP - 2 TBSP in 8 oz of water. I have had so HB rearing its ugly head and this has helped me out a ton.
    I've tried it.

My biggest problem is my chronic esophagitis which is essentially an ulcer that won't heal. Don't dry swallow pills, ever. That's the lesson here.

I have bad acid issues, too! I am a weight loss surgery patient and I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy - so basically 85-90% of my stomach removed. Now, my stomach didn't get the memo that it could be produce less acid. So I have a tiny stomach (holds 1/4 c. of food) that produces a whole stomach's worth of acid. Fun! It starts creeping up my esophagus no matter what.

My surgeon told me no Tums whatsoever as this creates a vicious cycle. Right after surgery I was on a prescription proton pump inhibitor (or PPI, these actually reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces) called Protonix for 6 months, then switched to an OTC version (Prilosec, Prevacid, and Nexium) and Nexium worked the best.

The only acid med my OB has approved is Zantac, which is not a PPI and I would previously take it in conjunction with the Nexium. It's worth checking with your doc to see if any PPIs are safe during pregnancy. Good luck!

  • Jazznit1984 If it is possible, overlap your old lease with your new one. So you have the ability to move in to the new place a week or to before needing to be out of the old. That was my plan since we lose our lease a week after my due date (but we ended up going a different direction than renting an apartment in the end). It gives you a bit of time to have a place to sleep, cook, etc in the the new place and allow you to move a bit slower instead of one rushed day, or in the case of movers, to make sure everything gets set up and cleaned to your liking, and well as being able to clean up the old place.
