BF vs sleep

This is directed to all that are BF. 

Everyone is talking about having the LO sleep thru the night so the mommy can sleep too. But what do you do about your boobs! LO sleep once for over 6hours, I woke up from the pain from the build up. Does it get better? even tho he sleeps thru the night, does that mean I still have to get up and pump? no break for me?

My LO is sleeping ~8 hours most nights now, but yeah I tend to wake up after 4-5 hours and pump, then go back to sleep.  Still more restful than it used to be getting up to feed her, change her, feed her some more, rock/walk her until she decides to go back to sleep.

DD is 8 weeks and has given us 4-5 hours through the night.  I have begun to pump before going to bed to avoid the pain from the build up.  It has helped for now.  Not sure how quickly the body adjusts to the changes in demand.  So am curious about what it will be like when she sleeps longer.  But then, I guess that is sorta your question

When he started sleeping through the night consistently I would pump after I feed him for the last time and only pumped if I woke up and in pain.  Eventually they adjust

Your body will adjust! Don't pump unless you wake up super-uncomfortable, and then inly to relieve engorgement.
