I have a healthy breastfeed 5-month old who sleeps a lot. I'm talking 11-12 hrs at night and another 5 during the day. Has anyone heard of that being a problem?
I don't know why I clicked on this. After coming down from doing battle with my 5 mo-old to take a 45 min nap, probably not the best idea.
I guess ask your pediatrician if your baby is lethargic while awake, but if your little one is a healthy happy baby who happens to love sleeping... that is not something you should question. Ever.
Like someone mentioned, look to see how your LO is acting while awake. Happy and active or lethargic? Other signs there might be something wrong. If all else seems normal, they're probably just going through a growth spurt. My LO normally sleeps 8-9 1/2 hrs through the night. She's 5 months now. Around 4 months she was sleeping 10+ hrs through the night and had me worried. I had mentioned it at her 4 month check. The doctor said was one of the lucky ones, and said as long as she's growing and isn't lethargic during waking hours there shouldn't be anything to worry about. A day or two after her 4 month check up she was back sleeping around 8-9 hrs a night. If your still concerned I would call your doctor and they will decide if they think your LO needs to be checked out. Hope this helps!
Yeah.... Don't be worried. Also, probably not a good idea to complain about how much your LO sleeps when other women have lo's who wake up four to five times a night or more.
I am blessed to have a little one sleeps a lot and I am not complaining! Sorry for all you other mamas I had my share of trouble with breast feeding for the longest time! But recently my daughter has been sleeping more than usual. I think she's just going through a growth spurt. It's been 2-3 days of extreme evening fussiness and only wanting to sleep. I guess growing fast is very exhausting!
