Opinions on GIRL name!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the board, but wanted to get your opinion on the name we are considering for our girl (6/5/14): Kara Morgan.  My husband and I actually picked this name four years ago when we were pregnant with #1 and never used because we had a boy, Ethan Scott.  We feel like the name Kara is good for babies, kids and adults, and not overused.  I am fearing it will be mispronounced, misspelled, or has to much of an 80s feel.  My husband shares none of these opinions and is 100% happy with it. His other choice is Samantha Paige (but I am not a fan of Samantha or Sam).  We haven't come up with anything we like better yet;)

Bring on your opinions for Kara Morgan! THANKS!!!

I like Cara, spelled this way.  I also like Morgan, and Paige.  GL.

There is nothing wrong with Kara really, it's just NMS. I like Samantha a lot better.

I do prefer Samantha, but I thik Kara Morgan is a lovely name.

I am saying it like Car (as in automobile)- uh.

Yeah, that would be another issue. I say it as Care-uh. I like Care-uh better than Car-uh.

Kara is lovely just a little boring and slightly dated to me. I was born in the mid 80s and I know so many. It's also close to Katie Morgan the porn star. Samantha is perfectly fine too but nothing spectacular either. Any other names you've grown to like over the 4 years?

i agree -- i like Kara spelled w a C.  i prefer Kara Morgan over Samantha and Paige, personally.

I am a Cara, I guarantee spelling and pronunciation issues, but they really are no big deal. People default to the K spelling unless I spell it out, last I checked that is the more popular spelling.

Kara/Cara is fine.  If you are concerned about pronunciation and/or it being dated, what about Kiera?

I like Kara Morgan. I do think that Kara can often be mispronounced and misspelled, but that can happen even with the easiest of names. It is kind of 80s, but I don't think it is too dated. I think it could work well on a girl born today.

I think it's just ok. I would pronounce it care-uh and I do think it feels a tad dated. I like the suggestions of Kiera, or Kira. 

Morgan is also just ok in my book. I like Paige much better. Kira Paige?

I'll just leave some suggestions here too: Stella, Vera, Natalie, Alice, Cora, Eliza, Amelia, Bridget, Mila, or Daphne.

I love it. I have a Caroline and sometimes call her Cara (care-uh)

I like Kara--I've known a few in my lifetime and all spelled this way.  I don't think it will be mispronounced at all....in fact not sure how one would mispronounce it.  I like it.  It does work for a kid or an adult.

I like Kara/Cara Morgan
As a teacher, those are easier to recognize and pronounce correctly vs. Kyra, Kiera, Keara, etc

Cara or Carys are refreshing compared to Samantha/Sam

I haven't heard Kara/Cara in forever. I never know how it is pronounced in advance though because I knew girls with both pronunciations with both spellings. Kara/Cara/Tara/Terra were all popular at my school.

I prefer Morgan on a boy. Kara Paige?
