I don't think this is as unpopular opinion! I couldn't agree more with you!

  • I'm sick of some of my friends who are teachers filling up my FB newsfeed with wishes for another snow day.  I get it, snow days are fabulous, but they've already had like 5 in the last month and I have to go to work regardless! Stop sounding like a 7 year old!

    Agree completely
  • I think it's obnoxious when women refer to themselves in the third person as "mommy" while talking to adults or posting on social media. For example, a Facebook status I recently saw: "Fun snow day, but mommy is tired!" No, just no.

    Guilty! :-\"

  • My UO is that I am a teacher and was so irritated that we got a snow day today. We start vacation after tomorrow, we don't need another day off right now! Plus, I leave for vacation now two days after my last day of school. I need time to pack!!! I know, first world problems here!

I think drinking/eating things with artificial sweeteners during pregnancy is WAY worse than eating soft cheeses, lunch meats, the occasional glass of wine at the end, etc.

    How so?
They can lead to metabolic problems and put you at a much higher risk for type II diabetes. Also, the studies done to test cancer causation were done with much lower quantities of Artificial sweeteners than most people who regularly consume them take in on a daily/weekly basis. A handful of cancer survivors I know have been advised to steer clear of them because of the cancer risks associated with them. There are tons of studies and info out there (especially on aspartame) that I won't get into. I just think they're poison and try to avoid them at all costs.

The results of these scientific studies have shown that eating products sweetened with aspartame is no different from eating other foods and is not associated with adverse health effects."

My MIL is a SAHW and doesn't even do the laundry. :-O

It's not like she is incredibly busy either. She doesn't go anywhere or do anything other than eat, smoke and watch tv. And wonders why her diabetes is out of control (but refuses to change when we try to help her).

Hahahaha...maybe your toddler isn't a tornado yet...but I'm not sure when I could clean my house without DD immediately making more of a mess than I just cleaned. Her hour long naps don't really cut it.  It works much better for someone to clean when none of us are home.
Guess so...knew it would be an UO... I have lots of friends and family that use them.

Ok, I'll continue to trust my DH who has a PhD in toxicology and has studied these type of things in depth.

Kay, I'm not a big fan of aspartame either, I can't stand the taste and avoid it for that reason, but you're talking apples and potatoes here. Soft cheese is considered a concern because it's not pasteurized, and lunch meat is listeria concerns... if you contract listeria during pregnancy, that's really bad news.
Don't get me wrong, I eat both while pregnant, but you're essentially saying that the risk of type II diabetes and other potential long term illnesses are more serious than the threat than listeria... Even if they did put you at risk for those things, there is a reason pregnant women are suggested to stay away from some foods and not others.
Personally, I can't help but think that the fear of artificial sweeteners is more of a paranoia than anything.
Many soft cheeses sold in the US are made from pasteurized milk. If you want some soft cheese just check the label before you buy.
I actually thought it was illegal to sell unpasteurized cheese in the US.  Maybe I have that wrong, but I always thought that you can't actually get "real" camembert (for example) in the US because of the laws regarding the pasteurization of dairy products here (the USDA and all of that).  But really, the brie that you're getting from the cheese section at your local grocery is certainly going to be pasteurized, and if at all, I'm pretty sure you'd have to go out looking for unpasteurized cheese direct from a dairy or from a fancy cheese shop or something.

Yep. I also get really annoyed with people who are due at the end of the month but don't want to be "the last to experience everything" so they jump on the next BMB so they're the first. Booo fucking hoooo! Suck it up, someone has to be at the end, I'm sorry you ovulated when you did.

Edit: My exception is if you started on one BMB and had been active on it for a while, but later your Dr changed your due date and your month changed.

  • @SusieBW & @DianaVB & @C_mo

Here is a little information I found about laws regulating "raw milk consumption".

"In 1987, the FDA mandated pasteurization of all milk and milk products for human consumption, effectively banning the shipment of raw milk in interstate commerce with the exception of cheese made from raw milk, provided the cheese has been aged a minimum of 60 days and is clearly labeled as unpasteurized."

It also has state-by-state laws. https://www.realrawmilkfacts.com/raw-milk-regulations

*The website is slightly biased but it is the "easiest to use/read"... just an FYI.
