Kick counts & AP

Just popping over from 2nd tri with a question. This is #2 for us and I have an anterior placenta for the first time. I find it really really had to feel baby move except when he punches my cervix.

I know its not time to do kick counts yet but I was just wondering....those with an AP, do you have trouble doing kick counts , or is baby big enough that the placenta positioning doesnt matter at that point ?

I didn't start kick counts until 28 weeks, and by then I could feel her kicking without a problem (I have an anterior placenta, too).

I've never actually done kick counts (or had a provider who suggested doing anything other than monitoring for changes in movement) but having an AP didn't inhibit feeling movement (had one with my first and again this time).

I'm not active on this board, but I also have an anterior placenta and my OB actually told me that kick counts will not apply to me. She didn't go in to detail, but just said that they monitor differently. I definitely feel movement, but not anything like what my friends who are pg are feeling. She said to call if the movement I am currently feeling changes.

I have an AP, and did kick counts started at 28 weeks.  Most nights he gets to 10 "kicks" (or head-butts, hip-checks, punches, or karate chops) in about 8-10 minutes.  I do kick counts right after dinner when I sit down to relax -- this is when baby is most active.   I use an app on my iPhone so counting/timing is super-easy.

At 20 weeks, I wasn't really feeling consistent movement.   In fact, I don't think I was feeling consistent movement until about week 24 or 25.   I think in a few weeks you'll be feeling a lot more.
