Amazon vs. Target: Aden + Anais

I really want to get a 4 pack of A+A swaddle blankets for the baby, which are apparently the best (never tried them before).  Amazon and Target sell them; Amazon for $50 and Target for $35.  However, I've heard that the ones Target sells are "knock offs" in that the A+A brand actually makes them, but uses a cheaper quality fabric to sell them at a lower price.  The reviews on Target for the blankets are favorable though.  So, what would you do?  Does anyone know anything about the possible discrepancies between the store's products?  I'm trying to round everything up off of my Amazon and Target registries into a couple big purchases with the completion discounts, but am trying to save additional money where I can.  Is it worth spending the extra $15 on the blankets from Amazon, or would the Target ones be just fine?

ETA: The description on Amazon says "100% cotton muslin," and the one Target just says "cotton."  Also, the ones on Amazon are 47x47" and the ones on Target are 42x42".  Hm...

The ones that are sold at Target and Buy, Buy, Baby, aren't exactly knock offs...they're made by Aden & Anais, but it's a different quality.  They're "made for Target" vs. their "boutique quality".  The Target ones are 3'' smaller and aren't quite as soft, but they're still pretty good.  I'd spring for the real ones - they have excellent resale value though if you find you don't like them

Babies r us has the 4 packs for more like $30

I'd go with the cheaper ones. I had those first but found a boutique one at goodwill for .99. While it does seem a bit softer its not worth the extra cash to me.

The Babies R' Us ones are the same as Target's.  To get the boutique quality you need to buy from A&A directly, at certain online stores or smaller brick and mortar stores.  BRU used to sell the boutique line, that's how I got my first set after DD was born - they were on clearance for around $15 - best deal ever!

I have both and like them equally.  It's not a $20 difference to me.

I choose to get the amazon ones due to the size. I also have the BRU ones when we had DS and swaddling was kind of difficult with that size. The Amazon ones also do feel softer too...

The target ones are 44x44 vs. 47x47 for the boutique line.  It really makes a difference if you're using them for swaddling!  Plus the boutique ones have a bit more stretch to them so you can make the swaddle tighter.  Not a huge deal, but it helps!

Yes! I did not realize that the Target ones were smaller until a few months ago when I bought a "real" A+A blanket.  I'm splurging on a 4-pack of the real ones from Amazon for this baby...I much prefer the larger size.

Those are the smaller ones as well.

I received a pack from Target, is the size difference really that big of a deal? Am I not going to be able to swaddle her properly? I was planning on bringing one or two to the hospital with me to try out on her.

You can still swaddle her properly. I think the bigger version is nicer as they get older.  I always used the Target ones to swaddle DS when he was swaddling age.  The bigger ones are great now because I still use them and DS is almost 2...I throw one over both of us when I rock him at night (the Target ones would just be a bit too small for that) and I find the larger ones a nicer size for a spare light blanket to keep in the diaper bag.  But the Target ones are fine, too...I used them the first year.  If I had known, though, I would have saved my money for the larger ones.

Ugh, I was all set to get the Amazon ones and now I'm torn again.  You know, I guess I will still stick with the Amazon ones, if the larger size will be better in the long run.  Thanks for all the input!

We found the biggest difference between A & A swaddlers were the lines the carry. "Bamboo" vs. "Aden" by Aden and Anais. They were made of different material, came in a 3 pack vs. 4, and felt completely different. The prices were different too.

This exactly. I picked up least 10 of them already at a range of .50 to .99 cents at the goodwill. I understand its all light weight and big, I could make something bigger and cheaper if I were to go to the store to get the material myself. Totally not worth their price IMO.

I've been debating purchasing these for awhile. DD didn't like to be swaddled and I always wonder if we didn't have the right swaddling blankets. For those of you that have the blankets are they really WORTH it? Was it easy to swaddle compared to other blankets and the Velcro swaddlers?
