Re: *** Wednesday Bedrest Check-in ***

  • I slept ok... it could've been worse especially since LO moved into a weird position that kinda hurts my left hip and lower back at the same time :/

I can't keep cool... yesterday I was actually sweating!! lol crazy hormones I guess.

Today our little girl is 28wks!! This was one of our biggest goals. First it was 24w, then 28w. Now we're aiming for 32w, 35w, then full term!! Breaking it down into goals has really helped to keep me from getting too overwhelmed.

QOTD: my first job was at a video/music/book store. My two best friends also worked there. It was pretty awesome! I actually wanted to get a job so I could have some spending money. My favorite job was working at an after-school program with elementary aged kids. The pay sucked but I would absolutely do it again. My least favorite was when I worked at an electronics assembling factory... on an assembly line, 12hr shifts, doing the same boring stuff all night long (I worked 6pm-6am) I only stayed there for 6 months. I had taken a break from college, but that crap job motivated me to go back to school lol

  • @tracint, congrats on 28 weeks!!  That is a huge accomplishment.  My OB said that every day LO stays cooking before 28 weeks is generally 2 days less NICU time, and every day after 28 weeks is 1 day less NICU time.  Who knows if that's accurate or not, but it's still very exciting!

I slept terribly.. woke up several times and couldn't fall back asleep.  I am working from home still so I think I had some work things stressing me out.  Trying to get caught up today so hopefully I can sleep better.

I see the MFM first thing tomorrow morning, which I'm looking forward to.  I'm still feeling not quite right, so hopefully this will either put my mind at ease or we will see if there's anything else we can do.

QOTD:  My first job was working as a cashier in a mom-and-pop department store that also sold tractors and farm supplies and gardening stuff and pretty much everything you can think of.  I definitely wanted to start working, and loved having my own paycheck and working with kids my own age, but I don't deal well with the general public.  My most exciting job was as a police dispatcher - it was fun at times, but also pretty stressful at times, and incredibly boring at other times (like overnights in a small town).  I am a CPA now which is also challenging and stressful, but I enjoy it overall.

  • Hi All!
@tracint congrats! We just hit 28 on Monday, it will be fun to reach these milestone weeks together.

Woke up at 4am contracting and it was 8 hrs since my last Nifedipine, so I took it. Then my cold symptoms kept me up- drainage, sore throat, coughing, then the Nifed side effects hit (shaky, heart racing, slight chest tightness). I was a mess so just before 5am I moved downstairs to the couch to be more upright which helped.

Saw the Nutritionist today. I will be checking fasting glucose and 1 post meal glucose daily for a week. Post meals have been fine today. Worried about fasting tomorrow and going forward, but realizing I need to let go and just go with whatever comes. Main message from the Nutritionist was that I wasn't eating enough carbs scattered throughout the day, so I'll work on that as well. Trying to keep them healthy, esp with not burning as much on bedrest. So we'll see what happens.

QOTD: First paid job besides babysitting (started that at 12) was as an office assistant at a Pediatric Urology practice. I mostly did filing of notes and charts- tons of paper cuts! I got to shadow for a few surgeries/visits which was nice. It was my choice to work but my parents encouraged it. I LOVE my current job- I'm a Pediatrician in a Safety Net Community Hospital. I'm so sad to be away. It's literally what I've always dreamed of doing. I got my official academic appointment and a slight pay raise 2 weeks before being put on bedrest. Now I'm looking at 6 months away, which is so hard. I'm so afraid of them moving on without me and there being no role for me when I return. I'm really working through those fears and trying to let go of them. Least favorite job was my other part time gig I did after residency in another hospital. It just wasn't the right fit.
