Austin Babies

Newbie to this group

Hi Ladies!

I'm not in Texas yet, but we're moving there towards the end of this month of the beginning of next, and we'll be around about Austin area. We're moving from GA, and it's a pain packing while pregnant, let me just get that out of the way lol. I'm due in July (the 7th). My DH and I are hoping to get out there next week (DD will stay with my parents) and do some house hunting. However, if we do make it over there, we'll be there for Valentines Day, and I was hoping maybe you could recommend some good restaurants that might be slightly off the beaten path or even just a place you really like?

Also, any recommendations of good things to do with a toddler would be really appreciated, any areas you really like or would stress to stay away from? Thank you for any help you could give, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you ladies better once we're settled in. :)

  • There are tons of off the beaten path restaurants in austin, too many to list. Make sure to check out the trailers down town as well!

Check out yelp once you get here :)
  • Congrats on the move to ATX!! I came four years ago and love it.

Odd Duck is a restaurant that just opened up...it used to be a trailer and has the BEST farm to table food. Also, Olivia is a great restaurant and can be a little more romantic. Otherwise Justine's in East Austin is romantic for a post-dusk meal and def. off the beaten path, but well known :)

Take the toddler to Zilker Park and play around for a while. You can also walk over to Auditorium Shores from there, where dogs play off leash and you can walk a trail around the "lake" (which is a river). Otherwise our children's museum just opened, called the Thinkery. I hear it's awesome!

And I'm a Realtor in Austin. So if you need help finding a house, hit me up! I'm loving working with other mamas to be :) abby@denpg.com

  • Thank you so much for all the wonderful information! We probably wouldn't go to the park with the dogs, as I'm allergic and DD (2) gets scared when there are to many dogs and they bark/rough house and such. We're working on getting her over that. She won't be with us during this trip (DH and I are going to check out homes and DD is staying with my folks)  My husband has some properties and their realtors lined up already, but I'm going to jot down your info just in case! Thank you so much!
