Not an awesome update

Our embryos look like crap. Right now it's looking like we will have zero to biopsy and freeze. We have 3 early blasts, grades B, C, and C. We have 10 morula's with varying degrees of fragmentation. Our RE is not optimistic that we will have anything to biopsy and freeze tomorrow. This cycle is very similar to my last, using my own eggs. Even though I am poor responder (we only had one), it was only a morala on day five, and we did a six day transfer of a blast. It ended in a chemical pregnancy. She is pretty confident this is the balanced translocation that DH carries that is the problem. She gave us a few options to think about.

1. DE/DS

2. Use frozen eggs (six eggs), she will cut all her costs (if her boss gives her permission, so we can afford another donor egg cycle), use DH's sperm and confirm this is DH and not the donor. (I'm confident it's my DH, our donor is proven, my understanding is all her cycles have been successful, and she had a child's of her own)

3. A cycle with my eggs and donor sperm. I'm not sure if this would be an iui or ivf. She feels age is a better indicator for success than ovarian reserve.

We are devastated, we have spent more than $60k. We cannot take it another loan. We are barley affording the bills we have. Donor egg was supposed to be the answer. We are devastated!!

I am so sorry you are in this position. We are here to support you in any way that we can. Be kind to yourselves and each other as you figure out what you want to do next.

I know it was helpful for us to see a therapist that specializes in infertility after our third loss before deciding to go to GC to help us sort out our options.

I am so sorry you are at this point.

If you are considering DE/DS and decide that you want to do EA instead, it's much more affordable and I love to help. I'm not saying this is right for you or pushing it on you...just offering help if you ever considered it since you mentioned DE/DS.

No matter what, take the time you need to get to a path you feel good about again. We are all here for you in any way that you need.

Can DH get a karotyping to look at his chromosomes before trying something else? Just an idea... Again so sorry.

Oh mm, I'm very sorry to hear this. This is the last thing you expected. The sucky thing about IF and moving on to 3rd party is the hopeful feeling we have going into it and then the reality that things like this can still happen.

He's had a karotype drawn. That's how we discovered he has a balanced translocation. To prevent m/c or transferring an embryo with aneuploidy we were going to do DE ivf w/ pgd. As of yesterday it looked like our embyos will not make it to be biopsied for pgd. I have considered Dembryo, but we now have another loss to grieve. DH is not happy with any of the choices we have right now, so it may take some time.

Oh I see. I'm so so sorry, and I am keeping you both in my thoughts. It's not fair and I'm sure DH is devastated that he has this issue, as are you. I hope you can bring each other comfort as you grieve. Next steps can just wait until you're both ready.

My RE just called 4 of the morula's progressed to blasts. They will biopsy them and freeze. I'm not optimistic, as they are a day behind. Out of 15 embryos we only have four for pgd testing.
