Anyone else's boobs get all hurty when they're "filling up"?.... I'm not engorged... it's just every couple of hours for about 15 seconds or so my boobs are all, "HEY! HERE'S SOME MILK! WHERE'S THE BABY?!?!"

    It's getting kind of annoying.
I never noticed this until I went back to work but YES!!

  • I'm so frustrated.
My H is off tonight, so naturally i would hope that he would take a few baby shifts-
He tried, the minute she spit up, "i need help". Then he tries to get her to sleep. After like 30 min he is frustrated. And apparently its all my fault.

Excuse me for wanting more than two hours of sleep.
Its not my fault that after you came home from work this morning you went around town doing things instead of sleeping.
Andplusalso, he got five hours of sleep this evening.
Its just not fair. I let him sleep all day, stay up all day and all night and i dont get any time to myself, to even think about sleeping.
    Ughh

    Okay vent done.

  • For those that swaddle/use sleep sacks, what does LO wear underneath?

We have a fleece Halo Sleep Sack from the hospital, and I just bought two 100% cotton ones from Zulilly because I'm afraid the fleece one might get too warm for her. Usually she's just in a short sleeve onesie underneath. We have a BUNCH of the footless gowns that we got at our baby shower, but she never wears them at night because I'm so worried about overheating her. Does anyone use the gowns under a sleep sack, or would that be too much?

Also, when do you stop swaddling arms in?

we keep our house around 65 at night, and I can tell his body is always very warm in the fleece sack. When it's extra drafty, like below freezing outside, I'll put him in a footed sleeper underneath, but like last night it wasn't very cold so he just had a onesie underneath. As for arms, I don't think it matters. Right now his arms are half-in cuz he LOVES to suck on his fists. I know people start to take the arms out as they are being weaned from the swaddle, maybe around 3 months?

  • I actually stopped swaddling because she always wears a gown to bed. It seemed like she was getting too sweaty with both. She has been doing great with no swaddles so far.

Do you use a blanket or anything, or just the gown?

  • Just the gown. For some reason our bedroom seems to get really warm at night so she is plenty warm, but if its an especially cold night outside I have put on a footed onesie instead.

  • Does anyone have thoughts on cutting up your wedding dress to make a baptism gown out of? My sister suggested it, apparently it's a popular thing to do. I had planned on using the gown my grandpa wore because that's what I was baptized in, but my crazy cousin has it and claims she doesn't. Anyways, I want to make my own heirloom to pass on if I can't have that one, but I'm not sure if I want to cut up my dress or not. Would you consider it?

  • I like the idea of using your wedding dress for baptism clothes. Another idea to use some of the extra fabric is to make ring bearer pillows out of it for your kids to use someday. My mom did that with my grandma's dress.

  • @FarmBoysWife‌ don't take it off, if a scab is starting it'll get pulled off with the bandage. If you can pull off the tape and keep the gauze in place, do that. Then add more a bunch more gauze and re-tape.

So I'm exploding at both ends (TMI, sorry) so I'm guessing I should NOT feed LO my milk? In case it's a stomach bug or food poisoning? It does not seem like an episode of crohn's

no you absolutely should. You'll actually pass some immunity through your milk.

  • Why is it every time I go to pump DS starts stirring and as soon as I'm done he's up.

But if I don't pump.. He sleeps!

Mine do the same thing. Part of the reason my freezer stash contains all of 10 oz!

  • Brooklyn has taken one nap today. One. For about 1.5 hours. Strangely she's been in a fabulous mood all day, even with no sleep. Either she's going to sleep like a champ tonight or we're ramping up for a really bad night.

  • Spending a long weekend at the in laws and I'm already anxious and stressed!! They hog my babies, make rude comments, challenge my parenting etc. and they arranged a breakfast at their place Friday morning so the aunts and uncles can meet them. MIL is one of 13...fml! It's our first time being away from home with the twins too.

  • I just figured out/discovered tonight that my in-laws spanked DS1 the last time he was there. Out of the blue tonight he starts talking about grandma spanking him for something. I'm not anti-spanking but it's not their place to do it. We don't spank yet as he's just about to turn 3 and I don't believe he would understand it. DH agrees with me but I have a feeling he won't say anything.

Oh hell no! I would say something. Like you said it's not their place to make that decision, if it goes against your parenting styles they shouldn't do it. Period. Sorry you have to deal with this!

  • Dh is obsessed with the pacifier!!! He tries to shove it at her every chance he gets... when she clearly needs something, and when she isn't even fricken crying it's just so frustrating. I wish he would try to soothe her first... And when he gives it to her when she doesn't even need soothing gah!!! I'm about to hide them all from him.

This is my husband as well.
And then he freaks out when she spits up. Or has a poop diaper. All i here is "here mia go to mommy". Really. Most of the time i get up and walk out of the room so he has to deal.

Yeah, I wouldn't be okay with that!!!!! Def not their place. Do you have the type of relationship where you could say something to them about it?
Unfortunately we have a pretty poor relationship. I've been thinking it through to try figuring out a way to talk about it without it being confrontational. MIL has really bad hearing that she tries to hide and it complicates communication issues :(. We'll figure something out.

@ntdane That's pretty awful.  I'd lose my shit.

So we had our first doctor's visit yesterday.  Turns out she has a heart murmur.  He said it's medium sized and fairly normal.  But it's still not something I expected to hear.  We have to keep a close eye on her around 6 weeks and follow up at 2 months for another echo to see if it's resolved itself or if it'll take medicine or surgery.

In better news, normally LO is extremely fussy in the mornings, but today she is sleeping through her morning "witching hour".  I'm hoping the last few days of fussiness were just due to her growth spurt, but time will tell...and I've probably just completely jinxed myself.
