Trouble TTC

Names ( child mentioned, not mine)

This might be a touchy subject for some women in TTTC, but I was thinking of sharing some baby names you have picked out. I also know some women dont like sharing because of other women taking their names but I promise I won't...lol. if you dont want to I understand.

If your any thing like me you've had names picked out ever since you were 10 years old. I had Kaylee Elizabeth for a girl but when my sister had hers she took it ( gggrr). But I was 17 and got over it and now after many decisions my names from younger years haven't made the cut. We have decided on Murphy for boy or girl, Murphy Connor for a boy and Murphy Flynn for a girl. A lot of people dont like it but in the end that doesn't matter. I just hope we have the chance to use it.

Re: Names ( child mentioned, not mine)

  • I love Michael...that is my dads name and his dads middle name is Anthony so anthony michael was our first choice but we are both very proud of being Irish and murphy was the first name we agreed on. I love Fiona and zone are adorable too!!

  • We like Alexander for a boy (happens to also be DH's middle name, but I just like the name Alex), and Adriana for a girl. Before Adriana we both liked Kyla.

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN

May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis

May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5

November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)

    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

For a girl we are think Elizabeth Ann, calling her Ellie. For a boy we are still debating but think it'll be Jackson Stanton, calling him Jack All family names, sort of..except for Jackson. DH has an uncle named John but they call him Jack. We adore Jack, and wanted that name but liked having a more formal name like Jackson to go with it.

  • At this point I like unusual names for us, not really unusual names but . I want ro bring back old classic names...we have told both our families and friends and trust me I know none of them like Murphy but at this point I've dealt with an odd name my whole life ( Kami) and Murphy is much more common. do understand what you are saying and family and friends cane for hurtful with their comments A ( my sisters original name for her daughter was Blissery)
  • DH loves the name Isabella , I like it too but it has become so popular I am a little put off. So we have compromised for Isabelle Marie for a girl.Marie is a family name I am a 3rd generation Marie and we would like to continue that tradition. For a boy we are dead set on Phoenix, I am in love with the name I know its not a conventional name but it suits us. We are still not set on a middle name for Phoenix , I like Oisin it comes from Irish mythology and as DH is from Ireland I thought it would be nice. He is not quite convinced yet he thinks no one would be able to pronounce it.

We have friends who have three children, the first two from IVF and the third a surprise natural pregnancy. They named her Journey :)

We have an incredibly common last name, so want to go with more original first names. We like Petra for a girl and either Pierce Rivers or Cash for a boy. We would need to work on middle names for some of those. But I will absolutely admit to being a dirty lurker on Baby Names!

  • The only name we have picked out is Cameron.  We originally said we would name a boy or girl that, but the more I think about it the less I like it for a girl.  It would be Cameron Lynn for a girl or Cameron Lane for a boy.  Lynn is really special to us because I was named after my dads infant sister who died, and her middle name was Lynn.  Also, my grandmother who I love so so much, she is truly my soul mate has the middle name Lynn.  My mother in laws middle name was Linda (she passed away in 2012) and she name DH after her so his middle name is Lynn.  Lane is my maiden name.
We like Cameron because we are both crazy Duke basketball fans and they plan at Cameron Indoor Stadium.  Stupid to some, but to us we LOVE it!
@Calindi you are so true about people not telling you the truth.  My ex husband just had a baby named Nulyn.  Everybody that I still talk to hates it but they wont tell them lol.

  • I have absolutely no choice on the boy b/c my DH is a Jr. and he wants to carry on the tradition ;)

But for a girl, we like Rebecca Jane (our mother's names) and she would be called Becca. Had that one for a while, but lately we've also found we both love the name Lydia (his great-grandmother's name). I was thinking maybe Lydia Marie or Lydia Rose.

Sadly we also both love the name Hermione, and I love the character from HP, but I wouldn't name our future daughter that because she would immediately be type cast as that character, ya know? It's a bummer, because it's such a pretty name.

For a girl we love Zoey Lynn, and for a boy we like Reed Alan. Reed is my maiden name, so I really like it, but I'm not completely set on it either. If we have a girl however, her name WILL be Zoey. DH and I decided on it before we were even married. Edited to add that that the only way we would not use Zoey is if my sister or brother use it before us.

  • We have two girls names picked out Liliana Fey ( or maybe Faey instead haven't decided). We'd call her Lily. I've been in love with the name since I was a kid watching Legend over and over again. And its the name of my great great grandmother who was native american. Both my mom and my MIL have the middle name Faye but I like the fairy connotations that go along with the other spellings more.  Our second girl name is Grace after my great grandmother and Leona after his great grandmother.
We have been back and forth time and time again on boy names. I am absolutely in love with the name Donovan and a childhood nickname of Donnie. My grandfather is Don and I love all things irish. DH doesn't really like it. He kinda wanted a Jr. and I nixed that in a heartbeat. Trying to convince him on a comprimise of I pick the first name he picks the middle but eh he's not going for it. We also like Connor but its also insanely popular right now...so is Lily but eh whatever.
At the moment it's kinda hard to believe I'll ever get to use any of them.

    TTC since March of 2012

CD 3 blood work for me. RE does not want to repeat my HSG/lap at this point,
but may want to before moving forward with any fertility treatments.
After seeing the uro, DH is currently taking lots of supplements and clomid to try to boost his count. We will have a repeat SA in February to see if it works.
    Follow up SA numbers are: Count= 4 million, Motility= 40%, Morphology= 1%
Uro wants us to have another follow up SA 5/9 to see if we see further improvement than we are back to the RE to make a game plan.

  • @cindal I love both Lilliana and Leona!!

That reminded me that I really like Leilani (which is a Hawaiian name, and since DH and I are each half Asian/half white but different kinds of Asian our child will look ethnic, possibly Hawaiian lol) but for some reason DH is adamantly against that name.

As for a boy I like the names James, Jackson, Jack and Noah.
I have a feeling that we may see the Cora rise in the popularity chart.  Cora is the mom on Downton Abbey ....  I love that show.

So far his favorites are his name, Cormac, and his dad's name, Harry, for boys.  I don't mind his name but don't like the idea of a Jr. and can't stand his dad's name.  He doesn't really suggest any girls names.  And I'm, well I'm all over the board lol. Now my mother has been hounding me well since I can remeber about using thoes names but they just dont quite work for me. If I ever did use them it would be for middle names like Abigail Patricia Muriel, but DH isn't sold...lol

  • I always wanted Cordelia for a girl and William Marshall for a boy.  But, my husband was not on board with these names.  We have a girl from IVF #3 named Lillian which I love.  If we have another child, and it is a girl, her name will probably be Cordelia.  If we have another child and it is a boy, his name will probably Jamison Marshall (unless we would have twin boys and then there would be a Jamison Martin and a William Marshall).

I always wanted Cordelia for a girl and William Marshall for a boy.

    I love Cordelia! *thumbs up*

  • We both LOVE e name Norah Elizabeth for a girl and Oliver Lee for a boy both use our middle names. I also love Ian, Patrick, and Henry for boys and Gracelynn Loveda (Loveda is my grandmothers name) and Charlotte but DH isn't too fond of any of those names. There are 2 names that we refuse to use though, Terry and Kevin, because both of our dads are Terry and both of our brothers are Kevin and it's confusing as it is we don't need to add another Kevin or Terry to the mix :)
