My dream ring. I had one just like this one when I was 13 and swore its be my wedding ring but lost it when we moved. DHs mom wanted me to have we ring and when I received it I was so shocked to see it was identical to the one I had when I was younger. It fit when I put it on and so I thought it was fate. I plan to get the kids birthstones put in it soon.
There is a great store in Toronto that has thousands of rings that are out in the store. You can wander around trying on all the rings and the sales people don't rush you or push a sale. Instead they ask if you want something to drink.
My friends and I would go and check out the rings. I loved this one. J went with me to see it 6 months before he proposed. He than got a jeweller to make the same ring with better quality diamonds (We wanted Canadian Diamonds). I can't believe he remembered exactly how it looked.
The wedding band is the supposed to be the same (long story), with three small inset diamonds in the same spots.

We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
My ring was my husband's great grandmother's. It dates back to the late 1800s. The diamond has a lot of flaws and in some lights a yellow hue but it is absolutely the sparkliest thing ever. I love it!
DH proposed while we were out looking at Christmas lights. This was Christmas 2011. Married July 2012.
He had no money when he proposed so he bought a $50 ring from Dillard's that I had no issue wearing. He bought me this ring a few months later. I wanted something vintage looking. One day we'll put a diamond in it (maybe). It just had such a ridiculously huge setting it's be crazy expensive and I saw no reason to be in debt over a ring so we put an aquamarine. It's beautiful and I get tons of compliments.
@lelo2006 my center diamond is slightly yellow and had some inclusions as well. I just fell in live with the setting and we could t afford a better diamond at the time. He said he wants to replace it with a perfect one down the road. It doesnt bother me though.
I had no choice but to replace my center stone. The night before our first wedding anniversary my stone vanished. We were standing up in the wedding of our good friends. It was there during the ceremony...since I remember it sparkling under the church lights. Then I didnt look at it again until around 11pm that night. And the stone and the setting/prongs were gone. We have no idea when or where. I never hit my hand on anything...it was a wedding reception (and I was mostly sober). I cried...a lot. DH "thats ok, thats why we have insurance and a warranty" My very drunk friend was crawling on the floor with a flash light looking for it. We figure some little kid got a shiny new rock or it when out when they swept the floor after a balloon drop. Thankfully we had the lifetime warranty with the jeweler...they replaced it with a slightly bigger stone, no questions asked.
My hands are gross right now too. The center stone is DH's great great grandfather's and he had the ring made custom and then we both went and designed my band.
DH did good... 2ca total! 1ca centre with a 0.5ca on each side.
I have a thing that the engagement ring should be frivolous while the wedding band should be serious. Wedding band is just a 2mm gold band, but I love it. And I am kind of proud that I can still get my size 4.5 rings on my finger, even if I can't sausage myself into my pants.
I love how different everyone's rings are! Such a huge variety.
I should mention that my DH's grandmother was a retired jeweler, and she gave me a ring for a wedding band. Unfortunately, it's platinum with a bunch of baguette diamonds, and a size 13 (!!). She had gotten it through an estate purchase. Unfortunately it can't be resized without taking all the stones out and 'smeltering' the platinum, so I wear it on a chain around my neck. It's one of my most meaningful pieces of jewelry.
My rings were not what I wanted but my DH picked them out so that made them special for me. I've grown to love the simpleness of them!
My DH on the other hand has broken his ring 2-3 times. He keeps dropping it on tile and because it is made out of stone, it breaks. He has a lifetime warranty which helps us but how many times will they keep replacing his ring? I've told him to pick a new ring but he refuses. He wants the "ring" he got married with.
I don't have a close up pic of my ring, but here's the day I got engaged. My rings were H's grandmothers and his ring was his grandfathers. His ring has their initials and wedding date and our initials and wedding date.
Wow! Big big rocks! Mine is very simple, small but with very very small imperfections... I don't like very big rings, I guess I wouldn't be comfortable walking around with one of those haha
DH chose it by his own and I loved it... Yellow and white gold because we are both so different too but are great together ^^ that was his explanation
