Flat Size

I am making my own flats, before I go a-cutting, the size of a flat is 27 x 27 inches correct? Google tells me this as well, but I find you ladies more helpful!
As in they come in one size to last from birth to potty training?

TIA :)

GMD has 2 sizes of flats.  Smalls are 27x27 after they are prepped and shrink, larges are 29x29.  My smalls seemed really big when my son was born, but now I'm not sure they will reach around him to snappi much longer.  He's big for age but I don't think the smalls will fit to be snappied until the toddler stage unless there's some magic fold I don't know about or you use 2.

Padfolding is great though, and would obviously work for toddlers.
  • Ah okay. I'll go with the 29x29 size then. Thank you :)

I like to do the kite fold.  It gives really long wings.  I can get them to meet in the middle and I can use one pin to keep everything together.
I'm scared of pins!  I'll have to try it though :)

  • What are you making your flats from OP? Inquiring minds want to know! :)

  • Cotton and flannel. Out of old sheets :)

Then I'm making inserts from flannel and towel for extra absorbency. Then I also have microfibre towels that can double up for sleep. I think I have it figured out but I will see when I put it to the test!

Just wanted to double check.  You know you can't put microfiber next to the skin right?  It's fine to go in a pocket or have flannel wrapped around it.  Just not right next to the skin.

Loving the kite fold!  Still not sure about the pins though...I didn't get it very tight (is it possible?) and I was a little nervous about poking me or DS :-S You're going to have to walk me through this.
  • Oh yes! It would go under the flat I rink to avoid the skin touching.
  • See it sounds so simple but that really answered my questions! Thank you :)

LOL I couldn't figure out how to get it tight and which way to face it and if I needed to go the whole way through...
