Fertility testing

Hi all. I'm questioning my RE. What types of fertility testing have you had done? It doesn't appear that my RE has my best interests at heart, he seams eager to push me to do iui or ivf

You've already had five medicated cycles, right? And were those all timed intercourse? If so, s/he's probably recommending IUI or IVF because that's quite a few medicated cycles to end up with a BFN. And I think you're limited in how many clomid/femara cycles you can have, because those medications are hard on the ovaries.

The RE should be testing you for at least the basics: thyroid issues, FSH levels, AMH levels, estrogen, prolactin, and HSG procedure to see if your tubes are blocked and your ute is normal shape/size, and then a follicle count to see how many follicles you're producing. I am sure some of the other women could add some of the testing I've forgotten (or not had); it's early here, I'm still waking up.

Honestly? 99% of REs want to do IUIs or IVF. They aren't in the business of doing anything else. I don't know your history as you don't have a signature but didn't you get a work up when you first went? Standard STD bloodwork, HSG, Cd3 FSH/e2, AMH, prolactin, thyroid, u/s of ovaries for AFC, SA for DH. This is standard. Maybe some genetic tests like CF and karotyping but these can be very expensive if not covered by insurance. Maybe a hysteroscopy or saline sono if the vaginal u/s shows something. You typically won't move into other things until there's a reason to investigate more deeply.

What is AMH & AFC? I'm not sure if my prolactin & estrogen was checked. Yes DH had a SA. I had day 3 bloodwork done FSH level checked. I had an HSG done 2 years ago. Wondering how long the results are good for, because I'm clueless. My thyroud was checked j gad 3 small cysts on them thT was biopsied & the results was non cancerous. I asked my endocrinologist if my thyroid was a factor in not becoming pregnant & he said no. I never had a follicle count. Unfortunately I was the one that was taking clomid for 4 cycles unmonitored. I became very paranoid after reading side effects, so I stopped taking them. I don't want to call the RE office with medical recommendations as to what he should do for me, I don't want to appear crazy & or delusional. I was thinking about try acupuncture & the therapist ask what's the reason for my infertility, I looked stupid because I didn't have answer for her. I'm getting very frustrated because I feel clueless. Thank you ladies for your info & input.

Looking out for yourself is not crazy or delusional. Asking questions about your meds, the Re reasoning and anything else about your health is what you should do. If the RE or office isn't willing to listen to your concerns and suggestions then find a new one.

Hi all I had 4 cycles of unmonitored clomid. For the first two months I used OPK's. I have recently purchased a clearblue monitor. I will be using it as soon as AF comes. About an hour ago I sent him a long email with specific and direct questions. If he's not willing to help then I will get another RE that's willing to help me, thx ladies
