My husband and I tried to move to London last year. It didn't work. IN THE FUTURE. IT'S HAPPENING.
It's HARD to move to London. I tried about 12 years ago. I could not make it happen. I LOVE that city, though.
My husband does a ton of business with Lloyd's of London. I could pick up a post doc or be transferred via an industry position. We like to think these are fool's proof ways to get there. But, we realize it's not that simple. We also tried to go around the time of the London Olympics when the visa office slowed down considerably for about six months.
It's a dream. A dream that I would love to make happen. We originally wanted to get there before we had a kid, but then I think of all the traveling my parents took my sister and I on while we were young and it was awesome.
Confession: I didn't want my kid to be born overseas because then he wouldn't be able to be president. I didn't want to remove opportunities from him like that. Because my kid will *totally* grow up to be president. Yup. Crazy, party of me.
I was born and raised in Lexington, KY. I now live in central Indiana.
@jcsumm0 I love Lexington. I used to have family that lived there so I visited quite a bit over the years. If I could pick another city to live in besides my own, I would pick Lexington. I love the horse farms, Keeneland, The KY Horse Park, all of it!
I miss it. It's beautiful. I miss my family and land that is not flat as a pancake.
I'm a dirty lurker, but I was born and raised in northern NJ and now live just outside Houston, TX. We actually moved here on a whim... crazy story... and LOVE it!

@CrazyCornball What part of New Orleans? MH and I were married there and try to visit 1-2 a year. Of course we love it for the drinking, but it's more than that - we're not the prototypical bourbon street frat kids.
We're in the University area by Audubon Park. Where were you married?
And of course Audubon Park is one of the places we haven't been. We were married in the quarter primarily b/c that is what our guests would expect of New Orleans and we didn't want to disappoint. Specifically, at Muriels and afterparty at Monteleone's (well carousel bar/criollos). Now I'm getting all sentimental... damn I miss my wedding day
Born and raised in central Iowa, 1 year stint in Rochester MN, 2 years in Charleston SC, and now back to Iowa.
Are you a doctor or nurse? I'm just wondering because of the Rochester, MN background. I feel like most people I've met who lived there did so because of the Mayo Clinic.
Born and raised in Manchester! My dad lives in the Heartbeat right now, it's awesome for when we visit since we can see all the glories Hartford has to offer (ahem) and then walk home.

I work in Boston (obvi), but we actually live 30 min south of the city ;-) DH and I did live in the city for a while, but wanted to settle down, buy a house in a more suburban area.
Northern NJ in the mountains on a lake, about an hour outside of NYC. I can't imagine better :-) Born in MA though and grew up on Martha's Vineyard and in Cambridge and NYC. Shout out to all you Bostonians; I lived in Fenway, Brighton, Allston and Mission Hill when I was in my early 20's. It was the bomb.
I think we've discussed this before. I was born in Ridgewood, NJ and have family in Paramus still!

Haha small world! Valley Hospital? I lived in Fairlawn the first 2 years of my life. My dad was originally from Buffalo and it was way cheaper to live there than where we were living so we moved up here. I love NJ though, I'll always be a Jersey Girl. DH and I took our honeymoon in WILDWOOD! Haha!

Yes! And we even lived two streets away from the hospital too... And my husband is from Fair Lawn! I moved a few times, so I lived in Ridgewood, Wyckoff, and Old Tappan. We just moved to TX on a whim a couple of years ago, but we are definitely Jersey people. Everyone here makes fun of how I talk. lol
ETA: A Wildwood honeymoon sounds like such a fun time! I know people bash the shore, but it's such a huge part of Jersey life!

Haha yeah I'm sure your accent sticks out like a sore thumb in TX! Too funny.
Ya know, Jersey Shore definitely does get a bad rap. I've been going there every summer my whole life. We've stayed in Wildwood, Point Pleasant, Seaside... it was always fun and not "trashy". Wildwood is way more family-oriented and more quiet. They have the biggest boardwalk ever and it is so beautiful. We had so much fun. We even drove up to Seaside to take pictures outside the Jersey Shore house and go to the Shore Store to get T-shirts made.
Central Florida! I have a love-hate relationship with this place. Most of DH's family lives in CT, I would love to live there!
Noooo!!!!!!!! You would choose Connecticut over Florida?! Don't get me wrong, if I were really that unhappy here, then I would move. And I'm lucky that we live in a great town - beaches, parks, lots of restaurants, access to arts, universities etc. BUT, the winters can be so bitter/cold/gray sometimes.

Born/raised/currently live in Indiana. But we're currently getting rid of shit and looking for housing/jobs in the Oregon/Washington area. Our goal is to be out there sometime next year. I cannot wait.
