I still cant understand why people put the car seat on top of the shopping cart. Thank goodness the baby was ok...but wtf! it doesn't look like the baby was even strapped into the car seat.
My sister gets mad at me because i give her a hard time when she lets my nephew stand in the cart...but all i think about is when I was younger and in kmart this woman had her kid in the car seat and a toddler...the toddler was hanging on the cart and it flipped over. the image of that woman screaming and holding her baby who wasn't moving haunts me. I never knew what happened to that baby and it scared the hell outta me.
We have ours up there, but only when there's me and DH, so one of us is with her at all times and so we have more room in the cart. DH bought a shopping cart cover so we start using that now. Sorry ladies, I know it's really unsafe

Just a heads up though - if your seat gave the appearance of "clicking in" (like the cart part went into the grooves in your seat) I'd REALLY consider not using that seat anymore. That's the part that locks your seat to its base and the cart can actually damage the mechanism.

Do you have more info? My parents took R to the store and his seat clicked in to the top of the cart. My parents came to drop off R and told me how it took them forever to get the carseat off, and how my dad was yanking on the carseat and it took at least 4 minutes to get the carseat off of the cart. Should I stop using it?
Sorry and thanks!
Oh and while doing this my dad left R strapped in!!! WTF?! after a few minutes my mom got R out of the carseat.
Unfortunately, it DOES sound like the locking mechanism has been compromised in your seat. It happened that in this case it became HARDER to get off but once damaged you can't know that it won't become dislodged too easily in a crash and cause the seat to eject. My opinion is that you should stop using it in the base. You can do a baseless install or switch to a convertible.
@catalinapink So you know, a baseless install with just the seatbelt is very easy with most seats. I do it all the time, but I know a lot of ladies on here don't know how to use the infant bucket without the base.

My H says he "doesn't feel safe" with a baseless install. I looked at him like he had two heads, cause I've done it loads of times.
They only reason I could see someone really thinking that is because they feel so ill informed on how to do it that they think THEY make the install risky. Which is totally possible but everyone should know how to do it
We usually do the stroller and the cart when it is the two of us and Lily is asleep. If she isn't asleep, she comes out of the car seat and sits in the cart. It makes her happy. But I see people all of the time with their babies on top. I want to run up to them and tell them that it is dangerous.
