I thought Julia goolia was from never been kissed not the wedding singer.

Eta oh I stand corrected that's Josie grosie

I'd pronounce guila as goo lia...

Since you aren't Italian I'd go with julia
  • Giulia is the italian form..I like it. Julia is more suitable for America.

I am seriously stunned here - people wouldn't use the name Julia b/c they are afraid someone will say Julia Goolia? Do you not realize that The Wedding Singer is just not that big of a deal and it's super generational? I just can't believe a beautiful, classic name would be ruined for you by a 90's teen movie.

And our kids will have no frame of reference for using it. What kid born in 2014 is going to quote a 90's movie?
A really cool one, that's who!

    LONG LIVE THE 90'S YEW!

  • I guess I'm the odd one out.....I LOVE the name Giulia, and would have used it for my daughter except I have a good friend named Julia and it seemed weird to me. However, my husband is Italian and I minored in the language in college, so I am familiar with the Italian spelling and its pronunciation. I think the name is close enough to Julia that people will recognize how to pronounce it.
  • What about Giuliana? Italian and your hubs can still call her Jules.
  • They're both beautiful and legitimate spellings. Which do you prefer? I say, go with that one. Side note: I'm really confused about how "Giu" = "Goo"... ?

  • If you had to do a g name maybe guiliana ? But if you're set on Julia the do it with the J
