Anyone else hopeful for a vbac?

I had a c/s with my first, and it was all around just an awful experience. The only way to get a vbac, considering my location, is to attempt a homebirth. I interviewed an awesome CNM that specializes in vbac, and I'm so excited, but also terrified! Is anyone else planning a vbac? What emotions are you feeling?

Re: Anyone else hopeful for a vbac?

  • I'm hoping to have a vag birth after 2 c/s. I can't imagine being cut for the third time an it takes so long to recover. I have my fingers crossed that my doc will give the okay when I go for my first apt. Good luck.

  • I was considering a vbac, and before I got my BFP this time I asked my doctor his opinion. I knew that some doctors will not do one, so I figured that I ought to know sooner than later, in case I needed to find a new doctor if I did decide that is what I wanted to do. My doctor said that he does not do them because he feels the risks are too high, but the hospital where I had my son will do them, and he said he'd be happy to refer me to a vbac friendly doctor if I wanted. I talked about it with my husband, and eventually I decided that I am comfortable with having a RCS. But I completely understand the desire for vbac.

  • I had one with my second baby and hope to have one again this time. There is a VBAC board here too if you haven't checked it out yet.

  • I had a very hard and long labor that ended in a c-section with a very easy recovery, so I have no interest in a VBAC, but my doctors office is open to them. Why did you have to have a c-section the first time OP? If it was because of complications or because you did not progress a home birth would make me very nervous.

  • He was breech, and I was kind of pressured into a version, which was unsuccessful. They broke my water, so I was "on the clock", but he never dropped, bc of where his head was. It wasn't my body at all, it was his positioning + the domino affect of the version and induction. The CNM said that I'm a great candidate for a vbac, so I'm hoping that it goes well!

  • DS was breech too (found out once I got into the hospital room).  I was already about 6-7 cm along, so there wasn't really an option for me and had a c-section.  It went smoothly and my recovery was great.  The nurses even commented on how quickly I got up afterwards.  I guess others need a little more help than I did to get out of bed.  Anyways, I'll be hoping for a vbac this time, though to be honest, knowing what to expect if we do a RCS is kind of alluring.

I hope you are able to get it in the situation you want it!
