What are your thoughts on the name Alta for a girl? I met a girl with that name and fell in love with it! Whenever I mention it to people it doesn't get very positive feedback typically. It was a fairly popular name in the 1880s. Thoughts?
If she winds up one day in Georgia with friends who play tennis, they'll imediately think of the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association which goes by that acronym. I can't dissasociate, so I can't say I like it.

Don't like it, it's actually an adjective for me, not a name. Maybe Alba?
In Latin, Alba is also an adjective. Felix is an adjective. Bianca is an adjective. Maria is an adjective. Roman is an adjective... Lots of names are adjectives.
My language isn't Latin as that's a dead language, although Italian is its organic evolution. Alba isn't an adjective in Italian, it's a noun and it means sunrise. Alta on the other hand means tall, that's why I said that it's an adjective to me, and not one that has been accepted as a first name over the course of centuries, like Bianca or Serena.
Edited typos.
Not a fan. It also makes me think of the store Ulta and just doesn't sound like a person's name to me off-hand. I can't quite put my finger on it but something about the sound of the name.

Exactly my thoughts!!
I live in Atlanta and I totally did not think this. But now in my head I can see the window stickers, and now I do...
