Baby Names

Despite Social Security top 10, what are the WAY too overdone names where you live?

I read the "top 10" lists all the time, but truth be known, I don't know too many of those names around here. The names I'm totally sick of are not in the top 10 at all. My DD is Charlotte which is on the list, but I don't know ANY others! Just wondering if anyone else thought the same thing.

Around here: Landon, Jackson, Grace and Kaylin are used to death

Charlotte is one of my favorite names but I could never use it now because I literally know 8 baby Charlotte's born this last year. It's definitely going to break the top 10 this year.

Olivia and Jackson.  I know of 4 Olivia's and 5 Jackson's all born in the past year.  Also, one of the kindergarten classes at my school had 4 Jack's in it.  It's insane trying to keep them all straight.

Im also bored of jaden. I know two.

Oh and evelyn. Its a beautiful name, but i know three people who named their daughters evelyn

  • Harper, Katelyn and Jayden are VERY over done where I live. Three of my friends that had baby girls last year named them Harper...
  • Quite a few Lily/Lilly's, lots of Emma's, and surprisingly a bunch of Evelyn's lately.

The boys I know seem to have more unique names.

  • Charlotte!! Apparently they all live here. I honestly have met dozens and dozens - and what gets me is all the moms of Charlottes around here feel the need to complain about their daughter being Charlotte D. Or Char/Charlie A. Because there are so many.

Also, Jackson/Jaxon. It had its moment around here and I know a handful that are all the same age.
  • Anything with an Addie nn like Madison, Madeline, Addison. Kaitlyn or "Mc" names for girls. Jacob, Wyatt, and last names as first names for boys.
  • I know at least five Jaxons, though they're all about 5 new (my boys' age or a little older). In our church nursery, we have had 2+ each of Avery, Logan, Tristan, Elijah, and variations of Lily. One Sunday out of only 5 babies, we had both an Aviyah and an Amiyah, which I thought was pretty crazy.
There are also a lot of Will/Williams, Landon/Landens, Jacks, Kaley/Kaeli etc. ... that's all I can think of at the moment.
fraternal twin boys born january 2009
  • Any "Ella/Ellie" variation. Variations of Lucy. Bridget. Variations of Julia. Claire.

For boys, Liam, Logan, Luke, Ben
  • Aiden, Jackson, Nixon
    photo c9f20a08-e61b-4141-972e-d243ea91d7a9.jpg
  • Sophia's, Jackson's, Logan's, Lucas (I actually know three Logan/Lucas sibsets!), lots of Ellie's, the whole -ayden fad (I know WAY too many of those!) etc. It seems that everyone that I know chooses from the top 20 names. Which means that my kid is the weirdo with a name in the 600's.

  • Addison, Caitlin, and Emma are the only repeat names that I have come across so far.
    image
    Derek - February 2013        Caelyn April 2011

  • I know that Emma is pretty high on the list. But the only Emma I know is my dog. No Emmas around me.
February Siggy Challenge May 2014: Favorite Wedding Photoimage
  • Sooooo many Olivias here!  Lilly, Natalie and Harper are also very popular

I know 3 baby boys named James

TTC #1 Sept '10    BFP! Dec '10     DD Anna born Aug '11

  • Girl names with Ken- in them - Kennedy, Kendall, MacKenzie, etc.  (Not necessarily babies, but elementary age girls at DD's school.)
    DD born 10/10/07 * DS born 11/25/11 * #3 due 3/9/2015
  • I also know about 3 little Lucas/Luke's for the boys.

Now if we want to look at junior high names, where I teach, it's Hannah, Savanna and Rebecca/Rebekah for girls and Jackson and Jacob for boys.
