Babies: 6 - 9 Months

If you used the Magic Sleepsuit...

If you used the Magic Sleepsuit, how old was your baby when you stopped using it?  I am thinking of buying one for my 4 month old, but it says to stop using once baby rolls over.  Doesn't babies start rolling over around 4-5 months?  I don't want to buy it if I am only going to use it for a month.  Or is it really hard for baby to roll over in the suit?

Re: If you used the Magic Sleepsuit...

  • My baby is also only 4 months, but big.  He is wearing 12 month clothes.  Will the large sleepsuit be too small for him?

  • I think you can get different sizes. We bought one at 4 months and used it for about 2 months. We quit sometime after she first rolled, but before she could roll over with it on. Worth every penny, even if we never use it again on future babies.
  • And yes, it was hard for her to roll in it. I don't know if she could have, but she was looking like she was trying to, which is why we quit. And when you have to quit, it sucks, but just go cold turkey and put LO in a sleep sack.
  • Magic sleepsuit never did anything magic to us. LO wore it for a month and a half (4-5,5 mo) and then we just went cold turkey to a sleep sack. I would say if you have a friend who has the suit borrow it and try it out first.

  • We stopped using it at 5.5 months, when he was strong enough to roll in it. I turned on the monitor and he was on his belly in it. Eeep!

They don't want baby to roll over while in the suit. DS can roll, but doesn't in the suit yet, and hopefully not for a little while longer.

Same here, I think it just keep LO snug and warm and helped her to stay asleep when I put her down. There was no magic that made her STTN or anything. I would still buy it again, I think we stoped around 5 months
  • My dd is still wearing the sleep suit at night, and she is 7 1/2 months old.  Although she rolls nonstop during the day, she can't roll in the sleep suit at night.  The most she does is move herself from vertical to horizontal (perpendicular to the long side of the crib) at night.  The sleep suit comes in two sizes, for 3-6 months and for 6-9 months.  We will probably stop using the sleep suit in another month or so, unless she learns how to flip over before then.
  • I've used it with 2 different kids now.  DS1 could roll but not in the suit for ages.  I put him in it around 4 months and stopped around 6 months.  With DS 2 I started it at 3 weeks, the small one worked.  It was a tad big on him but he was a devil to swaddle.  He wore it to around 4 1/2-5 months.  He was in the large by the time I quit with him.  I keep them in 'till they can go cold turkey and I've never used sleep sacks.
