Baby Names

What's the best/worst made up names you've heard?

Has anyone you've known made up a name that you thought was really awesome, or just plain bad?

  • Kaysic. My friend named her son this. I love it. Idk why and she said she combined some things to come up with it.

The worst sibset I have heard is A'Knight and A'King. Followed closely by Amaya and Amariah (it wouldn't be so bad if this set weren't twins!).

    Edit: I'm bad at grammar.

On Toddlers and Tiaras, there was an Alycesaundra.

I know a sibset of Zay.den and Zyl.ie. Periods added to make less searchable.

  • Brynnlee. Looks weird, sounds weird, and butchers a perfectly good name (Brynn).

Also I know someone with a daughter named Mackynzi. I want to cry for that poor baby.

  • Omg these are killing me! I know someone who named their baby Elyrika (El-lyric-ka) but that's 100 times better than Gregliana or Gregrhiana!!! It's like me naming my baby Billianna or Billisyn. Eek.

I'm not sure how giving them horrible names would convince someone that they fathered the kids but it did turn out to be his kids so at least it wasn't a total embarrassment, I mean could you imagine if they weren't even his and still had those horrible names.
Have you seen it when they aren't the father but still named after them??

This is Damon Jr!  When it comes to Damon, Jr... Damon, you are NOT the father!!

    What a train wreck.
haha I have seen that. Hilarious.
  • Sibset: Arla.ndria, nn La.ndri and Alex.xandria, nn Lex.xi (obviously the second one wouldn't be bad if it weren't for the spelling).

No! And please tell me you haven't either!!

When I worked on an L&D floor there was a baby girl born named Love'ya. It was pronounced Lo-vay-uh. Criiiinge.

ETA for privacy I can't add the last name, but lets just say it described how much or little. As in Love'ya Lots.

Also -- another baby had the first and last name of a media/cable company. It was something along the lines of Warner Brothers (but not that company). It was BAD.

  • Urmajesty. I tried to give the mom the benefit of the doubt but nope... Pronounced Your Majesty. How fun that must be to grow up with.

I ran into a lot of fun ones at my old work. Luckily most of the people I know in real life have kids with "normal" names.

I can't think of anything specifically right now that is made up that I absolutely hate.

I saw that episode and the names were worse than that. I thought they were actually the same name with a slight pronunciation difference.

It was a while back and that's what i thought she said but I guess I could be wrong ether way it's horrible lol
  • Lysander, sounded like Alexander :S
  • I thought the name La.Kinzi was pretty bad until I read some of these!

In terms of bad names I'm finding some great inspiration with Paternity Court....

Mine is that when I worked in a restaurant in Times Square in college and we had people form all over the world. By far the worse name was Reminess. The mother said "so every time his father see him he's reminded of me and what he's missing". Sadly she only from Queens.

  • My OB swears he delivered a Lemonjello (La-man-jah-low) Still feel like I can't believe him as this is totally an internet myth name.

Any name with an apostrophe gets a thumbs down in my book.

The WORST I heard in a mall though. A mother screaming at her son named DREYDEN, (like aiden, but drey)

Someone in my family has a son named Dreyvin. *sigh*

I've heard of Drayden, Blayden, Raiden, Zayden, Payden, etc.  I'm not sure I got the spellings right on all of them---I know Zayden and Raiden are correct for these children.

    Blech.

I also saw a Slayden not long ago. Twin brother to Jayden.

Candida - girl. This one was pronounced Can-dee-da but anyone in medicine knows that Can-did-a is the fungus that causes yeast infections.  blech.

  • I have two:
When I worked in retail a customer came in with her infant daughter, I'm-Unique (not sure of the exact spelling, I didn't ask!). And I saw this on a Friends fb the other day for their new baby girl- Tziporah.
  • I can see why Lysander would sound made-up. ;) It looks like Lysol and Alexander smooshed together. (And yes, I had heard of it before and was aware it was a real name ... not one that needs to make a comeback though IMHO.)

Tziporah is a legit Hebrew name.

I think Myjoy has to be one of the worst made up names I've seen. I just kept hearing the teacher call her that and it just got worse every single time he said it.

It's also the name in a song by Tony Orlando and Dawn, which, in the end, may actually be more embarrassing to the kid
