Love the candyland idea but I agree that it's best to wait on that one.
I am keeping 'rainbow art party' and Dr. Seuss in my back pocket for future years and just doing a simple red and blue 1st birthday this year. We will have balloons, a streamer curtain in the entrance to the living room, and a small ball pit and that's about it.
I'm thinking ladybugs but I'm going back and forth on colors. Black and red or black pink teal. Hmmm I have until April so I'm going to see what I can pick up after valentines.
We are doing Alice in Onederland !!! She will be wearing an Alice tutu dress. Also got some tea cup sets to have a tea party that all of her older cousins will enjoy and it will be really fun for kids of all ages!
Rainbow theme. Rainbow colored balloons, banner, and cake. And of course DD will be sporting a rainbow outfit of some kind, I'm thinking rainbow leggings or tights with a jean jumper and some kind of cuteness on her head.
Same here but I'm doing full on tutu. There a few times in a little girls life where a tutu is ok and I think a first birthday is at the top of my list
All I know so far is we'll have lots of pink. Haven't really come up with an actual theme at this point, but I've pinned lots of cute girlyness like pink ombre rosette cakes and tulle cover balloons. I'll make sense of it somehow! And she'll definitely wear a tutu
I absolutely love the "Alice in Onederland" idea, how clever!!
This is a great topic! Another mommy and I are planning a small party for all of our baby friends and mommies. We have LOs that are 1 day apart.
Any suggestions for themes? A boy and a girl

How about pretty in pink?

I'm the odd duck. I haven't even thought of birthday anything yet! The only thought I've had is where on earth will be have it bc just immediate friends and family and there are alot of people between friends, family, and childrens. Kudos to all you ladies, I'm the under achiever lol.
I'm just starting to look into birthday ideas, but I'm thinking rainbow chevron and polka dots! Not bright bold rainbow colors but more on the pastel side. Baby girl was born on St Patrick's Day and we're in Savannah, GA (where St Patty's Day is a HUGE deal!) so she gets a big birthday parade! I thought about doing lots of green and shamrocks but decided against it. I've seen rainbow cakes on Pinterest where each layer is a different color, and would LOVE to attempt a small rainbow cake for Amelia... We'll see!

We're doing a camping theme for our son. I've planned things like an indoor tent & stuffed campfire, a fishing game, & camp themed snacks (goldfish, teddy grahms, s'more pops, campers in a blanket, etc.). Decor includes plaid tablecloths, lanterns, & campground/park signs.
I think we are going to do "One Year in a Flash." Some pictures from his first year as decoration. Possibly a DIY photo booth. We will keep it pretty simple with family and a few friends.

We are doing a "you are my sunshine" party! I've pretty much had it planned since she was born lol I saw a pin on Pinterest and it's been downhill ever since lol
We are doing a "Woodland" theme. The party was going to be at the house but we decided to have it in the private room of one of my favorite restaurants. The restaurant itself is all done in a Lodge theme so it works out well. The invites are owls I made from scratch I made out of construction paper and the owl is holding the actual invite under its wings. If done at home, I would have a lot of stuff to do for the theme. But, Instead I had to cut some ideas out since the room is already fully done in their decor. Right now I am working on a custom banner and shirt for my son.
We're keeping his birthday party super simple and for close family only, because my husband is coming home from the Middle East and I don't want him to be overwhelmed with party planning chaos the second he walks in the door.
So...a little angel food cake and berries, and a nice picnic style dinner.
We're doing a lion theme. His first birthday is on March 1st so not only is it his "golden birthday" but it'll probably "come in like a lion" at the rate we're going with the snow/winter weather! Found a really cute idea for a lion smash cake on Pinterest.
My plan is also pink with yellow. I found the prettiest cake on Pinterest that is simple, yet a little elegant. the number One is written out that makes it look like a sign-kind of hard to explain. Pink is always my go to color and now that I have a baby girl I have an excuse to pink it out!
My daughter is turning one on May 3, 2014. I am planning her birthday party time and the theme is going to be bumble bee. Its easy and although she has no idea its a spring theme.
Oriental Trading is a great place for ideas!!! If you search 1st birthdays there are so many ideas and great party favors...even if you dont purchase from there you will get the ideas you are looking for
I'm thinking Whinnie the Pooh. That's what LO was for Halloween and she has a large stuffed one and one that sings and dances and loves them. Haven't really started to look for supplies, so I hope they have Whinnie the Pooh party supplies out there.
We are doing a Willy Wonka theme party. I am so excited to do it too. I have all these wonderful ideas and have started the ordering of GOLDEN TICKETS! MY husband told me not to tell him the price of the party. lol. So no budget!
What about an "Uno" theme, like the card game? That's what we want to do for our son's 1st bday in March The colors are red, blue, yellow, green and black. Simple!

As DS will have his party at Build a Bear we are going with a bear theme
His older cousins are going to be thrilled, and really the party is mostly for them.
I got custom balloons printed for invites that you send out with all the party info and when the guests blow them up that's the invite.
