I was told not to lift anything heavier than baby for six weeks, which I followed for the main part except when one of my cats got out ( she is 15lbs V my baby 6lb!) I was told not to lift the baby in the car seat, just the baby alone.
I was told the baby in the car seat. I follow the restrictions for the most part, after my twins were born (they're 4 now) DS1 was still in a crib and DH couldn't stay home from work for weeks on end, when he went back to work I'd lift him in and out of the crib for naps (he was 27m when my twins were born).

I was told to lift nothing more than the baby + carseat for 2 weeks then to take it easy and listen to my body from that point forward. I didn't do any heavy lifting until after 6 weeks.
This for me too. I definitely followed it for my first one but not so much for my second. I can assure that was a HUGE mistake. My recovery was longer/harder with a lot more pain/bleeding with #2. Lesson learned and this time I will be sending the big siblings off with the grands so I am not tempted to do more than I should for those first two weeks. After that, I will HAVE to avoid the urge to lift DD into her car seat etc.
Baby like everyone else for 6 weeks. I know so many people that didn't follow that and had so many post incision problems.

TTC Our first miracle baby.
I did listen. I didn't lift anything heavier than baby for the first 4 weeks. My mom was with with me for 4 weeks but when she left I had an appt so at 5 weeks I had to lift baby and car seat. Even listening to the doctor I did have a few incision tears at my 2 week appt.
Same restriction as everyone else. I had ODS's teacher at daycare lift him into the car when I picked him up. I did have to put him into his crib one night at about 3w pp when DH had to work late. I was cautious. I hope I can be as cautious this next time, but I know it'll be harder with 3 kids to care for.
First 3 wks, nothing heavier than baby. Next 3 wks, nothing heavier than car seat + baby. After that was to part attention to how i felt (tiredness, pain) and watch for changes in bleeding to know if i was overdoing it (for both lifting and overall activity level). I followed it for the most part and am still getting back to where i was pre baby (13 wk pp).

I was told nothing heavier than the baby for 6 weeks. At my six week follow up they said nothing heavier than the baby + the carseat for a couple of weeks and to listen to my body. I followed the restrictions.
I was told nothing heavier than baby. I have 23 month old that only will lay down at night if I put him in his crib. I try to follow them, but I'm going to comfort DS if he needs it.

I was told nothing heavier that baby or 10 lbs for 6 weeks..I lifted baby with carseat once at about 4 weeks pp and bled afterwards. So I shouldn't have done it. The rest of the time I did follow restrictions, even though I felt up to it. Wasn't worth the risk to cheat again.
6 weeks nothing heavier then the baby. I definitely listened, I didn't want to end up back in the hospital. I did have a lot of help from my husband but a few days I needed to get my 21 month old in and out of her crib. I pushed a chair up to the crib and had her climb in. She learned a lot of climbing those few weeks. My worst fear was to end up back in the hospital and not be able to BF or see my babies.
With my first, I was told nothing heavier than baby for six weeks. I did carry her in the car seat, but pretty much stuck to that rule.
DD was 14 mo and 24 lbs when DS was born. I asked my OB in the hospital when I could start picking DD up. He said immediately. He said I was stitched up very tight and there was no real chance of issues. I picked her up the next day in the hospital. I had no issues and had an awesome recovery.
Lots of restrictions - no driving, nothing heavier than the baby, only do the stairs once a day. I followed them. I asked my MIL to come stay with us for a few weeks so I wouldn't be tempted to pick up my toddler. Actually, the pain was strong enough in the beginning that I wasn't at all tempted to lift anything heavy.
I didn't follow the rule about the stairs well, though. My bed is upstairs, and every daytime activity is downstairs, so I ended up going up and down probably a half-dozen times a day. I couldn't tell you if it caused any complication. Pain is pain is pain, and mine was bearable.
I was told baby+carseat for six weeks. A week later, I promptly forgot and picked up my 3yo niece. Nothing happened, but the look on dh's face was priceless.
I'm so nervous about this this time around! DD is only 15 months and I will be alone with her and the newborn all day. I'm gonna need to get her in and out of her highchair for meals and in and out if her crib. Some days I will have my FIL ... I'm so worried about pulling my stitches! I already looked into doula and sitters and cannot afford it :-(
