what week was your rcs set for

Im sure it depends on the dr, but im interested in the average most prefer to schedule them for. Of course my dates dont match with the edd i have been given, but only by a week or so. My biggest fear is my baby coming 2/3 weeks early again and having another emergency. This will be my first rcs.

Mine will not schedule anything before 39 weeks. Not even 38 weeks 6 days.

My 2 scheduled ones were exactly at 39 weeks. If it had been a weekend they would have pushed to the Monday after 39 weeks.

My first c/s was twins and was scheduled for 38w (there risk of carrying twins longer is greater than the benefit).  My 2nd c/s was at 41w, I was hoping for a VBAC but never went into labor and my OB didn't want me carrying past 41w and wouldn't induce a VBAC.  I think if I was to have a normal singleton delivery and planned on a RCS it would be scheduled for 39w.

39 weeks but I went into labor at 37 so it was technically an emergency C but it didn't feel anything like an EC because it was much less hurried and crazy then my first EC.  My first seemed really nuts, frazzled and crazy.  This time it was much more relaxed but maybe that is because I knew what to expect a little more and I could walk into the OR versus being flown down the hall in the hospital bed at a high rate of speed.  Try not to worry about going early.  I was all stressed about that and it ended up being much less stressful then I thought.  GL!

My first was scheduled for 38 weeks but that was 6.5 years ago and now the hospital won't allow them until 39 unless there is a problem. DS1 came at 36 weeks and DD at 37 because I went into labor on my own but DS2 just made it the full 39 weeks to my scheduled date.

Emergency c-section to me at least means you or baby is in distress and you have to be put under general anesthesia to get baby out within a few minutes. My sister had one of those when her attempted external version went wrong and they tore her placenta. She was put under general anesthesia and she was essentially cut hip to hip to get the baby out as quickly as possible. That is highly unlikely to happen just because you go into labor prior to your scheduled date.

I agree.  I didn't have general anesthesia with DD but she was in distress and when I was wheeled out of L&D into the OR, DH didn't know if he'd be able to be with me in surgery or not.  I don't know if it was an emergency, but it felt much more like an emergency than my earlier-than-planned RCS with DS when my water broke at 38w4d.  With him, I called the hospital when my water broke at 8, got there at 9 barely feeling contractions, was tested to make sure my water had actually broken, and had DS right after midnight.  It was night and day compared to my first c/s. It depends on the reason for your first c/s and your RCS, but going into labor before a scheduled RCS on its own is not necessarily an emergency situation.

My RCS was scheduled for 39w2d (the earliest permitted by my practice and their surgery schedule at the hospital).  DS was perfectly healthy before 39 weeks, but I wouldn't have wanted to schedule a c/s earlier and risk him not being ready.  It was not an option anyway, since I had a normal pregnancy other than GD.

This. My OB said that it was an insurance/hospital requirement and she wouldn't be comfortable scheduling before then anyway. If baby comes before then on her own, they will just prep me for the c/s when I get there. My second c/s was also scheduled for 39 weeks and maybe 2 days? This one will be 39 weeks and 3 days.

Mine was 42 weeks. I had hoped to VBAC but never went into labor. The last few weeks were miserable but I'm glad she was so big and strong when she was born.

The hospital policy won't allow my dr to do it before 39 weeks (unless I go into labor on my own)
